SWINE FLU!!!!
So i finally got my new rims in the mail and after a long and annoying two days, i got them on.

before the pics, here's the story of what happened.

i decided to put disc brakes on my car all around(car is a 79 beetle with stock drums all around) so i ordered my disc brake kit from a company out in california called TopLine. While ordering, i found out that for extra money, i could have the bolt pattern changed from the stock 4 bolt, to a couple other bolt patterns, so i went with 5 x 100 which is the new vw pattern. I then ordered my wheels(Sportmax Racing 006 black on red) from victoria tire in california but they were on two week backorder because i didn't call them on the monday when i was supposed to, i slept in and called them on wednesday, and they sold their last set on monday, just my luck. I finally recieve my wheels in the mail so i bring it all to my mechanic so he can install the brakes and wheels. Well it turns out, the wheelstuds they sent with the brake kit were too long, because they were for the four bolt application, but since i bought different wheels, the studs were too long. since my mechanic was getting ready to close up, he had me go buy new studs from an auto supply store near by, telling me exactly what i needed. i get to the store, and i was confused about it all, so i just put the cashier on the phone with my mechanic, and he tells them what i need, and i get them. go drop them off, and tell him to call me tomorrow when it's done and i'll come pick it up.

well he told me not to worry about it, and since i just got laid off, he'd let me sleep in and to just call him when i woke up. so i wake up around 2 and call him, and he's like "i need to talk to you, it's not done yet, i was hoping you'd call earlier" so i go up there. The wheelstuds that i had bought the day before were the wrong size, but he already got that problem fixed. but now that we had the right wheelstuds, which were metric, the lugnuts they sent with the wheels which weren't metric didn't fit. so he tells me I need to go buy 20 tall lugnuts that had a thread pitch of 1.25 mm.

so i go to the nearest autozone, and walk to the counter and say to the manager, "i'm looking for 20 tall lugnuts that have a 1.25mm threadpitch." and he replies with "well everything i have is in isle 4" so i reply "i really want to make sure i get the right ones could you help me out?" and he says "everything i have is over in isle four" talk about poor customer service. so i walk over to isle four, and take a look at what they have. i find a set for 29.99 and i hold the one that came with the wheels up to the new ones, and they were about the same size, but i was under the impression that the new ones had to be TALLER than the ones that came. so i leave, and go to the pepboys next door.

the guy there is much more polite, and we find what i need, assuming what i was told was correct. i only have 20 dollars on me, and no credit or debit card, so i ask "can you take credit card over the phone? i can have my mechanic call and order them and put them on my bill over there?" and he says no, i have to have the credit card. so i call my parents and they say they'll meet me up there in about 20 minutes. So i go back to my mechanic.

When i get back, i say "i think i found the right ones, they were 1.25mm, but they were the same size as these ones, didn't you say they needed to be tall?" and he says "yeah, those ones are tall, you found the right ones, go buy them and bring them back"

so i call my parents and tell them to meet me at autozone instead because they have the right ones. so my dad comes in, and buys them, and gives them to me, and he drives my sisters car home(which i was driving to and from the mechanic) and my mom takes my dads truck home and they leave me at the mechanic so i can just drive my car home. well we go to check to make sure the lugnuts were right, and they weren't. they needed to be 1.50mm threadpitch.

so i go back up to autozone and i say "i want to exchange these for the same exact thing but with a different threadpitch" and he says "well do you have your receipt?" and i say no, my dad just took it, but i was literally in here 5 minutes ago" and he's like "well if you don't have it i can't do anything", and i, very impatient at this point, said "listen guy, i was seriously in here 5 minutes ago, with my dad, who just paid for them. he was a little shorter than me, kind of fat, and had red hair and a red mustache, you don't remember him?" and he says "well i think i remember him, go get the ones you're exchanging them for"

so i go get the 1.50 set, and come back to the counter, and this manager, who was rude to me in the beginning, is sitting there on the phone on a personal call, while i just have to stand there and wait for 8 minutes(i looked at my phone) then he exchanges them for me.

so i get back to the mechanic, and try them, and they're finally right. so i put my lugnuts from california(the ones that don't fit) back in the packaging for the right ones, and give them to my dad and told him he could go get his money back and return them.

and finally, after a really annoying day, my wheels are on. the only thing that sucks, is the wheel caps are about an 1/8 of an inch too short of fitting on, so now i have to go buy 2 wheel spacers for the back wheels so my centercaps will fit.

finally here are some pics. i know i need to lower it about 2 inches, but i'm not doing that until after i buy new fenders and running boards, and repaint black which should be within the next month.

they are 17 x 7 wheels/tires. sorry about the night pics, but i'm going to a wedding tomorrow so i can get more/better pics in the day tomorrow.

Ugly.....A color change would make them look nice(body I mean). Nice rims though.
i already said i'm repainting my car. once i get my new fenders and running boards, i'm going to start taking off all my trim and doing bodywork. then i'm painting it black.

A red pinstripe or something would really bring those wheels out, they look nice, sportmax I see...might be my next wheel, tad wider though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

maybe a single red racing stripe through the center? That'd look sweet. Plan on making it fast? When I get my bug I'm doing a turbo charged porsche flat 6. Mustang killer for sure....

grinder you *** you aint goin to have shit on mine vw put a vw motor in \it then talk i got a 19.5 in mine any biggers a stroker race worthy ? naw i dnt think you r lol

that's what the paint is now. i'm doing it black, and those green lines down the side are going to match the red around the rim. i'm still not sure on whether or not i'm redoing the V red, or just making it all black...

yeah i don't plan on making it stupid fast though. just a little faster. dual carbs, lightweight flywheel, ratio rockers, new heads, .009 dist, newer exhaust, just little stuff here and there. but the idea of buying a 2100cc + has been bouncing around in my head for the last year....

Ah thats cool. The only thing I wouldn't do is go over 1900cc's. Reason being is because those engines were not made to handle that kind of power, even built up really strong. I personally wouldn't spend that kind of money on that. If you want real power, a flat 6 would be great. Add turbo's for more fun. My dad has a 1972 dune buggy kit car. Its fun but I want it faster lol.

it's not fair for those dune buggy guys, their shit's so light. a co-worker of mine had a dunebuggy that was souped up a little, had a 1600 but had new heads, dual carbs and a few more goodies, and he'd hit the gas and get perpendicular. i can't even squeal my tires with my 1600 lol
