new tower i might get

for some hard drives, I'd either go with western digital or seagate. I'm more partial to western digital though. Hitachi hard drives are very bad. They use the old IBM deathstar technology which was notorious for crashing. So definitely look into something other than that.

As for a motherboard, I am quite fond of Asus motherboards. They are extremely solid and generally offer quite a bit of features.

Choosing these components will obviously vary on what you plan to do with this computer though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ok.....got an idea on the basic componets.....now what do u guys suggest for a good video capture/ tv tuner card, and video card....... i plan on hooking up my directv receiver up to this computer and use it as my tv and record some programs to the hard drive and i do some gaming....nothing quite as hardcore as some people........

keep in mind im not really up to date on all this stuff....and im trying to keep it moderatly cheap

if you are looking to use it as a PVR, then I'd definitely recommend the hauppage winpvr cards. I know there was a deal on the WinPVR 150 for less than $100 not that long ago. WinPVR250 is supposed to be better though.

As for a video card, I'd probably say the nvidia 6600GT is probably one of the "best bang for your buck" cards out right now.
