New to the site

I'm new to the site. Don't really know anything about car audio. I recently purchased a head unit for my car (Alpine IVA-W505) and am waiting on its arrival and then looking forward to getting it installed.

welcome man. best thing to do before you start asking tons of questions is to read around a bit - and stay away from the lounge.

there are tons of people on here who love to be sarcastic and be jackasses. so i hope you have tough skin.

for your first stereo purchase, you have one of the best new head units on the market. the 505 will start you off in the 90% and up group on here lol. if you have a few more bucks, i suggest getting the alpine PXA-H701 processor with the W505 you have (i dont know how much money you have) and then from there your options are virtually limitless on what speakers\amplifiers you continue with.

if you get that PXA-H701 brain and use a single optical cable for it, then proceed to looking into a DIY component set, then you will be in the 99% best stereo group on this forum.

look a round for a while for amplifiers (depending on your budget) get some good ones and you will be golden.

again, im not sure what your aim is, but if you have serious questions and want to go the right way the first time around (so far you are) dont hesitate to ask (me or anyone else).

also visit 'diy mobile audio' - type that in on google, people there tend to know a lot more than people here, and are more readily to help a new guy out.
