New to the board

Hello all, i just registered to the board about 5 minutes ago. I have been looking to do a stereo upgrade, but i'm not sure what I want to do. Here is my current setup.

2 memphis 12''s

kenwood x811d amp

ported box.

That's all im running. I have competed in many local shows and hit anywhere from 142.9 to 149.1. I beleive my most recent run, which was 144.5..was the most accurate hit because, my amp was freshly installed after blowing an old one, and the gains were turned up. Also, i was in the car when i was burping the system....It hurt.

I want to get into the 150's and i want good sound quality as well. I have been told that my amp would not be good for SPL, but until I can afford to buy a new one, I am going to have to make due with what I have.

I want to get one 12'' sub. One really good one. I have been looking at Thunder 9500's, w7s, adire brahma, and the RE XXX. I do not know what i want but whatever i get, i will be having a custom box built for the sub.

Does anyone else have a reccomendation? My budget is really low, and ebay is my best friend for this stuff. Thanks!

Well, you can try working on your current setup before you go switching stuff out. What's your box currently tuned too??

Unless you really know what you're doing you will not hit 150 with a single 12. I'm doubting your numbers already (especially the 149), but I won't raise the flag because it's possible.

My question is....why "upgrade" if you're hitting 149, that's loud.

I have no idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i think somthing like 35-40hz..i there anyway to find out. I got royally screwed on the box. ITS MADE OF FLAKEBOARD!! AND TEH CARPET IS FALING OFF! it was 200.00 too
