New to subwoofers, please help!

they have one sonic electronixSingle 12" Sealed MDF Subwoofer Enclosure (Belva MDFS12) for $35, free shipping. looks about right ?
By the specs provided , it seems like it will work for you,on the lower side/smaller sized recommended sealed enclosure

I know nothing of the new subs, other than the you tube vids..but I have heard the ssa subs, and they do get down ..provided a built custom ported enclosure, and good power provided..If you have money to spend/play with, then id try a set of those cheap subs out, if not, Id recommend buying a sub that has reviews that are/do submit to theyre expectations by experience..Even the ones Ive mentioned earlier, are not a pocket breaker, and are well worth the money spent if you are on a budget, and want performance

those subs look sickk on youtube, what do you think it better? 2 of those or 1 ssa dcon 12?
Its your money, and your decision..I can not and will not make your decision, but only recommend from my experiences from seeing/listening to, and hands on.I do see that the cheap subs look to perform decent on you tube, though im not convinced until I try for myself..It could be a hoax, or it could be legit,,Vids can be rigged.Though I could be wrong.im not convinced as of yet

2 of the ebay subs will be better than 1 dcon, 1 ebay sub is actually better than 1 dcon look at the specs and compare, dcon is a 2 inch voice coil 300 watt rms and the ebay sub is a 750 watt 3 inch voice coil, I do understand the dcon has a name but if you compare 2 subwoofers specs hands down the dcon will not be a louder

but like what people said its up to you. good luck

those specs don't mean ****...where are the real specs on that sub? The Theale-Small Parameters that are used to actually determine what type and size box that sub will work the best in.

To say it is somehow better or louder due to "rated" power handling ability, basket type or VC diameter is a joke, and not a very intelligent one at that.

Have you heard both subs, because I actually heard both the dcon and the ebay sub and I am telling you the ebay sub is louder than the dcon.

not sure why you would think a 750 watt 3 inch voice coil vs a 300watt 2 inch voice coil does not mean ****. this is totally huge difference on these subs

I am not even going there..each sub has it's place and each is capable of outperforming the other.

All I ask is where you got your data for whoever is building you a ported box for the dang thing. I mean, heck, in the "Specs" on fleabay, it calls for a friggin 4.6 cube sealed box..ok, does this mean it has a Qts of

What kind of 3 inch coil? could be a 1 layer copper for all we know.

Do yourself a favor and do some research on power requirements for whatever you plan on doing. Unfortunately I didn't do my power research and I'm now shelling out an extra $400 for new wiring, Big 3 upgrade, new battery, possibly new alternator, etc. Don't run into the same problems I did....

Keep in mind if you add a lot of amps (wattage, amperage, voltage, whatever), you're going to have electrical problems. You will most likely need to double-ground your battery and your alternator depending on what you're getting. Also, alternator positive to battery positive via a fuse. From what I've gathered through my research, your car's stock electrical system was designed to handle ONLY what the car and its electronics pull, and not for any aftermarket audio equipment. I've run up to 600rms without grounding my battery or alternator, but anything over that you should consider it. You may not neccesarily hear a differnence once you do your big 3, but it should help your alternator last longer if you're pulling more power than necessary. Also make sure you buy a Digital Multimeter to set your gains properly because it will assure correct power draw and you won't blow your expensive equipment.

I learned my lesson: post threads before buying equipment....

Also: if you're going sealed, you can build/box a pre-fab box. If you're going ported, BUILD YOUR OWN BOX, or pay someone over $150 to build one for you properly, there is no easy way around this. How good your ported sub sounds depends almost 100% on the quality, size, weight, thickness, and porting of the enclosure. Good luck!

I doubt a 1 layer will take 750 watts, pls dont troll if you dont know what your talking about. ( you should watch the videos about this sub before you comment like this)

why are we at sub boxes now, aren't we comparing subs? 750 watt sub 3 inch voice coil vs 300watt sub 2 inch voice coil and your saying the 300watt sub is better and your basis is you cant find a T/S parameter.
