Im looking to get some subs to put in the back of an explorer so there is plenty of room. Im not really lookin to spend more then $1000 that includes box amp wiring and subs. I've been lookin around for a while but im lookin for some input from people with experience.

What are your goals? Get loud? Nice low end response?

2nd- Stay away from shitty companies. Their products may be inexpensive but you get what you pay for.

3rd- A huge factor in the output of the sub is the box. The type of box depends on your goals. Try to stay away from prefab and figure out if you want someone here to build it or if you want to build it yourself.

dont get into it. you will go broke. first 1k wont be enough then 2k wont be enough and tehn you will wanna compete,

system turn into, passion, passion becomes obsessed, obessed becomes divorce, and then you are broke divorced with 12 kids that live with 5 mothers and all you ahve is a nice car with a boomin system, get out while you can.

Where ya at in NC? If you're close I can give you a little help if you want. I'm not claiming to know everything but I can give you the info that I do have and know a few people that know more than me

i live in huntersville nc. I want somthing thats loud but not distorted sound quality so i guess a little of both.

What are some good companies?

My dad has done plenty of carpentry work and i have worked with him many times and have the tools to cut wood and everything but how hard is it to make a quality box?

For that kind of budget stay under 1500 watts or your buying extra batteries and HO alt ect...

Audioque 2 x 15" SD2.5 on a AQ1200 is about half your budget, you gotta get 1/0 to do your big 3 and get someone local to build the box, if you cant do it your self.

Also look at PG RSD subwoofers, MTX amps.

DO something different and get a single 18" Fi Q on any decent 1K amp :0

and check out the used stuff here on the forum.

building a box is very easy. get someone here to design it for you. your dad will be a huge help. also, what you are looking for out of your system is referred to as "SQL" which is a mixture of SPL and SQ.

a lot of people use kicker hyperflex. its very flexible and runs power very well. as far as break in, its very contraversial. some people do, some people dont. i did with my l7 and i like it. you just set the gain low to where it doesnt move the sub much. just kind of moves it a lil. leave it there and let it play like that throughout the week. then slightly turn the gain knob up and listen to it more. continue the process until the gain is up enough to get the sub pounding. itll get louder as it breaks in also so dont worry about that.

Things change a little so now im gonna be driving a 2005 nissan titan king cab so it kinda limits the sapce. if i have all seats folded up or taken out can i still have enough room back there to fit the 2 15" AQ? i would like to just take the side and middle seat out and leave the other side seat in but if i cant fit the box in that way i can take them all out.
