new to "the game", where to start?

Take your time, read up, and save your money.I know it burns sitting there, and anxiety hits to hurry and spend on this or that. But be patient, and be able to get your moneys worth, and items that will last for you, will be the biggest pleasure, of retrieving the best for the money spent.Questions can be answered, and suggestions can be considered by asking. So take the time and read that basic review, and go to work on what youd like to have, and can afford, and ask about them, and see if there is better, ect.

Pwn, feel free to message me if you have questions, or need direction on where to look for legit information. There is a lot of misinformation on forums, including this one. Some people have hooked up a sub and think they know everything there is to know about car audio. Once you are here for a lil while you will be able to decipher the good from the crap. Whatever you do, do not buy anything until you have a clear path on your project.

Setting your goals too lofty, causes shortages of funds, and you usually end up skimping on the most vital parts of a stereo system. The electrical. Once you have a firm set budget, we will be able to work with you on all the little things you need that add up fast.

i got some comps hooked up to my cadence and they just destroy ur ears. the highs r crazy so i agree with accuab on that one. u only need the amp if the sub is so loud as a daily runner that it covers up ur highs.

stay away from sony rockford ken wood and kicker. mainstream names aren't very good (normally)
Why would you even say this? You have read what others have said and are just stating bad information. If you read more than you regurgitate something else, you would know that they aren't necessarily bad. It is the fact that you can get better for the price normally. If you don't know the truth about what you are talking about, don't say it.

thats y i said normally... if u get into the higher end stuff they will all do very well but what I'm trying to get across is the already set up kits and stuff like that that often catches new members eyes cuz of the price and saying it puts out 1k. but thats just my opinion. not trying to fight bout it. but generally i think kicker and sony r poop. rockford is better but not much

No need to get defensive Meyhem. We are just trying to make sure the information about product selection is left out at this point. Most product selection is personal preference. Every company has lemon lines, and every company has good product. Being able to tell the difference is the key. You have offered the advice that your current knowledge of the audio scene offers. There are others who may be more knowledgeable, who may step in to realign the thought process on the correct path. You may have been fed crap that sounded good at some point as well. But judging from your posts so far, you could classify yourself as a novice in the industry.

If you really wanted to get into some serious discussion and extremely indepth conversation on audio, visit diyma, or avsforum. They have some of the best minds in the audio industry there. But be prepared to just listen. There is not much either you or I can offer there for information. More like only questions.

just trying to steer him away from that stuff. cuz there is better. but w/e u can have the convo now. fill him with ur all knowing wisdom.
You're getting all defensive over nothing. You have obviously just been misinformed somewhere along the line. Almost every brand has cheap products that aren't good. You have to be careful what you read on here or anywhere online or even people say in general. People are biased and therefore spit out bad information. I tend to post something on experience more than anything. I won't post something if I don't know cause then I'd just be adding to the over abundant bad information already present.

yeah i am a novice. I'm just speaking from what I've heard on here. id love to learn more. and i get trying not to force too much info at once. but like when i was gonna get my first sub i went to best buy and i saw the buy one get one free kenwood vs buying one polk audio. the kenwoods put out the same power together as the one polk. then i went to an audio shop and found a lot more brands and possibilities. then i got on here and it was like D*** idk S*** lol. so I'm just starting to post some advice i have pretty much listened up to this point. so yeah some of what i say is wrong but i try not to over step my knowledge. but to my understanding those brands r generally accepted to be over priced and or not *** good if u compare them on price. but ik there r good kickers and rock fords when u get on the high end. and earlier models were a lot nicer. so sorry for any confusion on that. ill try to only say what ik off of first hand experience.

my bad guys. forgive me? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/compcrash.gif.4ecfedd515e492755e2899769e83940b.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/youreawesome.gif.a27e190c662afa8e2be5686b27bd1659.gif :bathers: lol

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Depending on year and make, all 3 brands have very excellent gear.
Ill agree with that as well, thinking about it.Since 89 ive been into car audio, with my first set up of 6 Roadmaster 6x9 a set of 5.25 sony 2ways, a Sparkomatic eq, and went on to some real good amplifiers, and good speakers ect,.I still run alot of old school amplifiers, along with some older speakers, and new.Within my time now, I feel that the older Zed made amplifiers are to me some of the cream of the crop, and still as of today working as the day I bought them.Every Brand has theyre version of cheap, and High quality, as the Audiobahn brand that everyone seems to trash, without even experiencing for yourselves , and only hearing from others,.I can tell you that frm experience, that The Entry level amps from Audiobahn/Dubb were no where near the quality of the HCT High level amps, that were expensive, and well made, that I personally used my self, and still have. Those were, and are still some of the best amps I have ever owned to date(HCT2200,HCT4125,HCT2.75, ect.even the newer 18001DT.Yet, My Autotek 99,66,44,HC66 Mean Machine were the cream of the crop that everyone seeks after, that Autoteks SS line, cant even begin to compare of todays amplifiers.Look at Highfonics today, and look at the VII,VIII Series amps, I mean? They just dont come close.I mean I can take an Odin VII series amplifier bridge it @2ohms, and it will hit just as hard, if not harder than the Onyx 1000, all day long, even that 66 Mean Machine.Yet, I wouldnt buy that brand of Autotek of todays amps.Every brand has the good, and bad yrs of making.RF, the Punch HD 45/75/ect? Great amps,Alpine Duo-B,SStream amps, I mean Thers even amps that most of you never heard of that I still have to date(20yrs old) that still work as the day I bought them Concord 50,2 Digital Ref series, that ended up being HarmonKardon, and JBL.You just have to know what you are buying, and what its worth, and how its going to perform.Just thank these guys for having this forum for information, that I didnt have back then, and spent so much money cooking amps, blowing speakers, hooking up 6ch xovers , learning how to wire speakers up multiple subs, ect, without the internet, that we have today. So yes, I agree with that statement, as I have used. These days, you just about get what you pay for, unles you search for deals, ect.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
