20% isn't really dark, you want atleast 10, but i wouldn't pay for anything other then 5 personally

the 20% on my truck is perfect. the cops dont really notice it and it is comfortable in the daytime.

keep in mind that 5% isnt a very good quality tint. most good tinters use two layers of 20% or something along those lines.

Double layering is a 'new technique'? The only reason you double layer is to achieve darker than 5%, not because 5% discolors faster than 2 layers(where you got that I have no idea). ANY tint with color dye in it WILL fade, regardless of what you say. Metallized film hinders fading as much as possible, and brands like LLumar dont discolor to purple, but actually fade to a lighter shade of 'smoke'.

I don't think it is so much a case of him knowing everything as much as it is your statement regarding 5% tint being of inferior quality is somewhat ludicrous.

The Nissan Sentra (yeah, I know, whatta great ride, eh?) I had my senior year of high school had 5% (3M film) all 'round as Louisiana had no legislation regarding window film back then. The guy I sold it to still has that heap o'crap to this day. It isn't near so dark as it was when it got applied in late 1990 but it isn't purple - not even close.

Only "hack shops" or guys tinting outside Wally World would be giving people 2 layers of 20% and claiming its superior to just getting a 5% layer. lol

Stick to thinking you know all about treo products and leave the tinting to people who know about tinting.

Also to the original poster, I have 20% all the way around, plus front strip and is just right. Cops dont hassle me at all, thank god. So I am wondering if the are telling you the truth about what they are putting on. They may just be putting on 35% and telling you that it is 20%. I will post a pic up of my car when I get home. On work computer now.
