new tint

here is my GTP. 5% in the back and 20% in the front.

the guy was just like give me ten extra bucks to do 5%.............but then the ****** didnt even put it where i wanted it...........at least he was nice enough to give me five bucks back...........woopty ****in doo

 
as far as the law, they should still tint it as dark as you want. i've never had a problem and if they say anything tell them its a show car not for daily use.
In most states it is illegal for a tint shop to even install darker-than-allowed film on a personal use car.

As far as claiming it is a show car I reckon if you brought some trailer queen that obviopusly wasn't registered to be legal for public roadway operation they might could do it but on the average consumer's vehicle that rolls in with a valid license plate they cannot, under penalty of law, install less than legal tint.

I do not know about all states but in Louisiana there is a small sticker that has to be put in between the film and the glass when the tint is applied that shows compliance with the current legislation regarding automotive window film and the shop's name/address where the work was performed. If that telltale sticker is present on a car with illegal tint then both the driver of the car will get ticketed for having the illegal tint if caught and then the place that did the work will get fined for applying it in the first place.
