new system advice

I am very new to car audio. I am purchasing and installing a whole new system for my 2000 ford explorer with no backseats. I am starting small and wanting to build from here. I want a 15 for my first sub and was looking at an american Bass XFL1544 15" Dual 4 Ohm, powered by a Hifonics ZRX1200.2. I want to know what size box is recomended (i will be building one, ported)? Will this be a decent start? What would be a good head unit to get (i listen to all music off of phone, s3)? Any recomendations? I listen to hip hop mostly. Budget is around $600-700 to start.

Choose a sub that is wired to 1ohm. That's the only outright change I would make. Go off the sub mfg's site for box specs and tune to 32hz. Seeing that this is your first setup, $6-700 will get you something that might satisfy you for a little while, then you might change everything so I wouldn't spend too much time on it cause you'll probably change it all anyhow.

The xfl 1522 is the sub if you want the xfl. 4 cubic ft at 33 hertz. As far as deck for android kenwood is the way to go the amp. Is junk if you want a hifonics. Get the bxi mono block then you'll still need an amp kit
