I just got my two alpine type r's 12inch. I goa a 1000watt kenwood and 1 1400watt cuspid that im going to hook up to it hope it pounds.

What's the model # on the Kenwood?

Because I'm fearful that you're looking at the topside of the amp and seeing a boldface 1000 watts printed there and going by that figure. If my assumption is correct you're reading the peak output rating which is more or less a useless number.

I like to consider myself somewhat of a Kewood afficianado (sp?) and if you'd be so kind as to give me a model number it's likely I can tell you off the top of my head the RMS (actual, usable power) output you'll get from it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That amp will do a rated 1000 watts if you drop a 1 Ohm load on it, allegedly. Sadly I must also say that I have heard numerous reports that no matter what Kenwood says that it doesn't like a 1 Ohm load even though it is rated to be stable that low.

You'll get 800w + out of it @ 2 Ohms, however, so look for a pair of subs that will be happy with 400~450 apiece going to 'em in either a Dual 2 Ohm voice coil configuration so you can run them together @ 2 Ohms or either a single 4 Ohm coil (for the same reason - running them together at 2 Ohms)

Edit: Nevermind - you already have the subs - what VC configuration are those Type Rs?

i had that amp, and it will do the power. i had it running a one ohm load for about a year and not one problem.

i hooked up the type rs to the 1000w kennwood i think it sucks my 1242 infinitys sounded better i think
