well my question is today i finally got metered and got a 141.5@45hz with 2 12" type r's and a 1500d. now here is my question, i have seen so many type r forum boner threads that i dont know what to believe and what not to. my car is an integra coupe so its a hatchback so i would think i wouldve gotten a lil higher number that what i did. now i asked an owner of a shop where i live on what he would suggest i do on getting louder, he told me i would probably want to look into getting some REAL subs, as he said. now i know the type r's are much more capable of doing much better than what i scored, but how much more debeez could my install add with type r's? i mean only think i could think of to get louder off what i have atm without switching equipment is get an optimal box meant for the 2 12" r's to slam for daily, upgrade amp power/ground wire to 1/0 from 2awg, and deaden the entire car. now the guy also told me deadening my car wouldnt get me louder but ive read otherwise so what does it really do? plz help me on figuring out where i should be spilling more cash into, better install equipment-or better subs?

If he said deadening won't get you louder, then he isn't a good source of info on how to get louder and I'd take everything that he has to say with a big grain of salt. To get the most out of any subs you're going to have to upgrade the wiring and deaden the car anyway, so why not go ahead and do that first. Rebuild your box after that. If you're still thinking that you can do better, then go to different equipment.

I'm not an expert on what equipment gets loud cause that's not my thing, but based on what I've gleaned from various sites over the years, the R's should be able to do much better with that power and more SPL dedicated subs will want more power to do better.

he told me deadining the car would be for someone trying to get rid of outside noise and perhaps improve sq aswell as crazy rattling...but for getting louder, he said i wouldnt see much of a difference and told me to get better subs.

i mean deadening probably isnt going to gain you 10 db's or anything but it will sound much much better and will seem significantly louder if you do. optimal box should get you louder.

was this a shop owner trying to sell you better subs that told you that? i mean no, type r's arent exactly top of the line spl subs but they are good. my girlfriend has 3 type r 10's running off 600 rms total in a very small sealed box and they pwnd my 3 ID oem 10's running off 1100rms. it was kinda sexy actually having my girls system louder than mine haha. but then i went and got a single 12 that gets louder so i could get my balls back lol

anyways. like taxi said, guy doesnt seem too smart. be cautious about taking his advice.

thx for the input guys, ok so since the enclosure is most important, either of you guys know what would be the optimal enclosure for 2 12" type r's for daily gourndpounding?
