CAN we please make a sticky that has a amperage draw/length of wire chart for choosing the right AWG power wires? Also explaining effiencencys between AB and D amps, and how to calcuate the amout of amps your amplifiers draw, which will enable people to utilize said chart? Am I the only one that believes this is needed?? THANK YOU!

and yes I'm too lazy to do it myself. lol.

Over half the information is available on the forum is readily available thru google, and google will most likely give you a link to a different forum or indepentant website. However we are constantly asked this on these forums, and instead of saying "ask google" people usually answer the same questions 10 million times. We don't want to send people to google, that loosens the sense of community we have here. And yes you can get it from the manufacturer, but to those of us that no longer have access to the specs of our equip(paper or electronic) and can estimate the effieincy of their amps.

that is if they are truthful
Which the reputable manufacturers will be, after CEA-2006 compliance.

The ones that aren't, well, you wouldn't want to buy their equipment anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How else do you calculate accurate current draw, if you don't have an o'scope to make sure you're not clipping the output waveform, and don't have a DC clamp meter capable of 100+ amps? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Not to mention a bench supply that's stable at that current draw, so the supply voltage doesn't fluctuate.

Good luck.

Some of us don't mind estimating based on already known effeiencies that a manufacturer usually is able to achieve for their particular model lines. A 5% difference in estimated effiencey isn't going to kill you when the POINT WAS TO FIND PROPER WIRE GAUGES based on current draw.

shooot go 1/0 with anything. your gunna upgrade anyways

I agree with your statement, but most people are too ignorant at the time to heed this advice. That or they cannot fit 1/0 and wonder if 4ga will be fine, or they cannot afford 1/0 at the time, or simply wonder if they have a cheap 2 channel and need 4 or 8 ga.

ohhhhhkkkkk.... So now we are sending people to both BCAE1.com and google! such a sense of community and acceptence. I didn't realize we had to have proir education before coming here, because most new people that ask what wire gauge size most likely don't know about BCAE1.

How many people do you think will really read the sticky?????????????????????????????????????

I have an idea, close to none, so there would be an extra page stuck at the top that no one reads......
