New stereo, getting nothing but bass

Just installed a new Sony head unit and something is funky with it.

I've got it powered up, have two RCA-Y splitters on the back for the Front and back speakers going to an amp under my seat. The speaker positive and negatives are just hanging from the 16 pin sony connector coming from the stereo. But I have the speakers (coming from the amp) hooked to the connector that connects to the car (honestly not sure where that goes, very new to this).

I'm getting sound from the speakers, but it is nothing but bass. Any help you guys could give me, would be amazing. If any pictures/info are needed, just let me know.

sounds like the bass settings is on thats why the sound is that way if i had to guess. only 1 set of pre outs from the deck
Well, I tried some of the default settings for the EQ, but it was a no go. Can you explain further on the RCA outputs?

usually with one set of preouts ,they are sub or rear fading sub only, make sure in the decks menu that its not on the sub settings ,turn them off .should work then
This just really intrigued me I had a set of type s components hooked up to a 4 channel and I couldn't even get vocals from the tweeters and the ssubs worked tho didn't sound quite right but the deck isn't real advanced its a cheaper older pioneer the only one set of rvas and the subwoofer options were the frequency and phase (normal, reverse and off

This is exactly what is happening to me. So is it not possible?

I'm curious myself everyone kept telling me the tweeters were probably no good but I doubted it I figured its something just couldn't figure it out I returned the speakers planning to get different ones but now I wonder if something to do with what's mentioned I didn't think it mattered I've never ran a set of comps or an interior amp

Your HU is either set to sub output, or your LPF is on on the amp... Either one of those scenarios or both of them together will cause the problem you are having...
Finally found out how to turn the sub-out off, and that was indeed the problem. But the only other option is "Rear-out"...now I only get my rear speakers to work.

Your HU has no Front Pre-Out. It only does rear/sub.

In order to solve your problem, you either need a new HU with the proper Front Pre-Out, or do a speaker level input setup from the HU to the speaker amp.

Yep, thought it would come to this, though I'm really glad I understand the problem now!

Thanks everyone for the help.
