New speakers over Infinitys

I have Infinity 5 1/4 reference series in my front doors and Infinity Kappas 6x9 in the rear of my 01 Civic. They were amped on a Alpine 4 channel amp, I forget the model number but its rated 75x4. Personally I think some factor setups sound better than this crap so I am in the market for something new. I like my quality so I am def. going to do components in the front with tweeters but do most people still just run regular coaxial in the back. I also want speakers that will have a lot of bass inside the car, I have a Alpine 12" Type R sub but I like it for quality bass in the lower range not just too shake the car. So for my rock music with bass in the upper range I want my speakers to be able to really sing(Where these current infinity are crap). I am not looking to spend more than $400 really so I am looking for some suggestions. Reading through these build threads everyone seems to be using something different so I can't get a grasp on whats best for what I want. Amp suggestions will be needed as well to power this because my current alpine amp is starting to go bad(randomly get quiet or just cuts out for 5-10 seconds completely). No more than $200 for than amp budget.

I just put focal 130 a1's in my front doors, powered by a jl audio 300/4 slash amp. I really love them so far. But, then again, I liked my infinity kappa 6x8 coax's they replaced, on the same amp lol. So maybe that means my opinion doesn't count. I do like the focals much better than the infinitys, but I really liked them for the price I got (100$). The focals were 280$. I read where some people say the tweets on the focals are too bright, but they sound good to me.

I don't really mind the Kappas in the back, I just guess I figured they would hit lower notes better than my friends stock speakers in his Mazda 3.....but they don't. The references in the front have to go though.

Stock speakers have to be able to play the full range of sound since they usually aren't backed up by a sub. Most aftermarket speakers are designed to have a limited bottom end operating on the assumption that you will use a sub. The Infinity's are known for weak midbass and no real bottom end.

If you really want good midbass from your front speakers, properly prepping the doors is just as important as the drivers themselves. Sound deadening and attempting to seal off the doors will help a lot. You're not going to get great midbass by simply screwing speakers into the stock locations.

I would keep the rear Kappas and spend as much of your budget on the front speakers. Plenty of amps will fit your budget as well. Worry about powering the front speakers. Run the rears off the HU if you have to.

What model civic? The front doors should be 6.5" not 5 1/4"

IMO for the price your not going to find a better mid range speaker than the silver flute with better midbass . Pair them with the vifa xt25 and you'll be very happy.

Don't you mean the other way around(I have an EX but i think they are the same)? The front door speakers are 5 1/4, they have Silver Flutes 5.5" which should fit since I am going to be making the mounting bracket. How are those tweeters you recommended? You don't happen to have install pictures do you? I'd like to see how someone with the same car did it.

el would you say hertz are better?

Also what should I do about my back speakers that are the 6x9 Infinity Kappas Coax. Keep em? Most people on here only talk about what they do with their front speakers.

I have a 01 civic LX and my fronts were 6.5 not 5 1/4. I wasn't aware they made 5 1/4 speaker size for the 7th gen line but there you go. Anyways still go with the 6.5" silver flutes instead of the 5.5". I had to dremel a ton of metal out of the door to fit the 6.5" inside so i guarantee your going to have to do the same to get the 5.5" in your door. If your going to have to dremel out the door you might as well fit the 6.5" instead of the 5.5". You will also need to make a 1.5" spacer in order to clear the window. I used two sheets of 3/4" MDF glued together to make my spacer. Once you do all that you will notice you cant get the door panel back on because it touches the speaker so i had to cut out the speaker grill on my door panel in order to get that on the door. It doesn't look too pretty but you can always fiberglass your own speaker grill if you'd like.

I have the Vifa NE25VTS Tweets but ive heard the XT25's and they sound much cleaner to my ears. If you go with the XT25's just make sure you mount them on axis.

I didn't take any pictures of the install but i will be taking off my door panel soon to fix the lock so ill snap a few pictures then.

Could you at least snap me a picture of your door right now. I want to see how they fit with your grill cut out(and our door panels might be completely different since I know for sure my size is 5 1/4 so getting the 6.5 might not be a good idea). Thanks for the help so far tho!
