New rims dilema

So i think i am about ready to step up to some aftermarket rims for the car in my sig. But i'm not sure the best way to go about doing this. If i am going to do it i will have to do it now because my tires on my stock rims need to be replaced anyways. I wanted to go with chrome rims but i'm worried about them going bad this winter from snow and salt, i live in iowa. So then i looked into maybe some all black rims because i think they would hold up much better in winter conditions but i don't know if i would like the look of them on my car or not. Any comments would be great. And what would be a good width of tire to go with on the rims?

any wheel can get winter damage, even if they are all black, it just depends on how well and often you clean them.

check out sites like http://www.tirerack.com to see what your car will look like on some diffeent wheels.

it should tell you the offsets that will fit your car. and the width of the wheel, which would tell you what width tire you would need,

im sitting on an 18x8 wheel and my tire size is 225/40

I don't have any pics right now but it's bright red with a black pin stripe down the side. Most of the rims i have looked at online have been 18 x 7.5. Would a 235 be too wide for a rim of that width?

well 235mm is for a 9 inch wide wheel..

if you want an a tire for a 18x7.5 your tire width should be around 190

Hmm stock width is 225 i think and the tirerack.com reccomends a 245 on even a 7.5" wide rim.

if your stock wheels are 8 inches wide, id probably keep it that way.. and not get a 7.5 wheel

Nice car bro.. screename needs a change...seriously, when it starts snowin take em off and run stock.. im looking into getting rims soon for my Monte as well actually i would have had em but **** RONNIE PEAY.. anyways I was gonna run 20" Black and chrome/machined.. but i decided on Chrome with painted brake dust covers.. get pics of ya ride and whatever else.. I had mine 2 days then had Flowmasster exhaust put on... look GREAT IMO...hit me on PM and we can talk.. also Qbenjamin was very helpful with my monte upgrades

hell idk, why not just get a package and let the company worry about width.. i am getting 8.5 wide rims
