New Power Acoustik Series Amps

the 5500 has 4 40s and should be good for 1400-1600 ideally, not in real world terms however. There only good series other the the db's is the phanatik 5500, which does 2000 rms in a regular install environment clamped on 13v.

well i emailed Power acoustik for more info and this is what I got back the next day:
Hello,

Honestly, I do not have a test report at 13.8 volts. You are right, our amps are generously rated. If you are looking for an amplifier with the kind of power that you see advertised, this is not the product for you…

loool, now thats funny.

well what do you expect? Power Acoustik is a mainstream budget company, and when it comes to ppl that dont know anything and just go by number of watts they see on the box, PA has a better chance of selling stuff than rating it fairly.... that and because the owner of epsilon doesn't care as long as it sells... but it doesnt apply to all of the other branches they own like PPI and SS

I had a BAMF 5500, actually still do, it's blown in my garage

Don't run that bish at 1/2 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif it did fine at 1 tho

what did you blow on it?

whats the rated power again at 1ohm 3200watts at 16 volts?? lol

what got me on these new PA amps is that the BAMF and STAX series actually have some serious fusing on them compared to their other lines from now and before.

the STAX 2300/4 has 30x3 on it with a claimed 2300 watts peak, 200x4rms x 4.

But realistically possibly 100-125wrms (depending on the components on the board), if true not shabby for PA multi-channel.

Personally I bought a Cadence iA4, couldn't pass it up. Buddy has a DCA-4100 that I installed and that thing bumps for a 90x4 amp (40x2 fuses), its running CVL-6k components and 2 12" Powerbass subs wired for 4ohm.

Perfectly respectable answer IMO. He said it like it is. I'd rather see that than some BS'er talker trying to sugar coat it.

Anyone want to buy a blown BAMF 5500?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

little over 14 volts at the amp, power light comes on, no protect....fuses are all good, no output from the amp

Power Acoustik amps are "hypothetically" rated, and even then they still slather on some generosity. They're rated at 16V while assuming 100% efficiency. At a realistic 14V in a real world scenario, you'd be lucky to see maybe half of its rated power.

My advice, beat your head against the wall until the idea of using PA products goes away.
