i have 93 pontiac grand am and i just bought a pioneer deh-p5600mp cd player and after i installed it and it was working, then i went to put the dash back together and i heard a fuse pop, my friend saw it too. I checked my fuses and they were all good and the cd player still has no power, It isnt the pioneer because my stock cdplayer doesnt work either. I was wondering if you could give me any tips on where to look for a blown fuse so it will work again. there is no fuse on the cd players powerwire like most. I swapped the radio fuse with another to make sure and it still doesnt work, Im lost now. please help

You heard a fuse pop but your friend saw it. Which one is it?

Normally there are two types of wires in the car, ignition and constant. And in some vehicles they separate these, sometimes there is a fuse box inside of the car and another one in the engine bay.

Also, Pioneers have their fuses on the chassis. Did you take a look back there?

Do you have a digital multimeter? It'll make things so much easier to troubleshoot if you had one.

i have checked all of the fuses and they are all ok. im going to check them with meter though. if everything with the fuses checks out ok, do i take the thing back to where i got it? thanks,

You can also double check if your head unit is working this way:

If you have a car battery lying around or a 12 ~ 16 volt drill battery available you can take your head unit's wires, put power and ignition together on +, and then put ground on the -. You can see if your radio turns on this way.

scuse me, its a deh-4600mp. yeah, my dad told me about that, ill probably do that tomorrow. i checked all the fuses with this light and all worked except one, so i replaced it. still didnt work. i looked at the fuse on the back of the player and it was ok. the thing is, my stock cdplayer doesnt work anymore, so its somewhere between the fuse box and the player. id like to fix this without help from my dad, mainly so i can get some experience. any thoughts?

find your fuse box... pull the panel... it will probably have a diagram and tell you which fuse is for what... look for anything that says radio... interior lights... cigarette... room...
