New pg RSD Competition sub

They have a bit of a "bulky, industrial" look to them, but hell, I kinda like it so I wouldn't be embarrassed showing them off. I've seen a lot worse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Humm...we carry PG at the shop. As soon as we get some of these new subs in, I'll do a write-up on them.

If they sound as good as the Rsd's...should be a hell of a sub. The Rsd's are amazing budget subs.

won't the sound quality on the lows at high volume be a lot less on a sub with less xmax(linear excursion) though? isn't that what xmax is all about? isn't that why subs that are geared more towards SQ have higher xmax? and subs that are for spl usually have lower xmax?

As stated before Xmax is not all that counts. I have a mtx 8500 series 12" that has a little over 21mm of xmax and the sq is not as good as say a jl w3 which has around 14mm of xmax if i remember right.

dont focus on the xmax, there are alot more factors involved in a subwoofer.

the old cerwin vega strokers, did they have a high xmax?

nope and they were the standard in which everyone was trying to base the subwoofers on.(see my point) power! power! power!

Here are some pics with the magnetboot/ gasket off. It looks much much better without it in my opinion.. Seems to have plenty of ventilation aswell for high power applications. Gota love the tall surround

the sub i have right now is 24mm one way.
EDIT: actually mine's 27mm.
So your treo ssi 10 has 3.5 inches peak to peak excurion:crazy://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Highly unlikly. its 27 peak to peak. Which means the rsdc has better excursion than that, along with several other subs like the fiq, ssd, btl, ect.. With that said xmax is not the most important factor, but the pg is not lacking in that department. This just came to my attention, as I thought it was 14.8 peak to peak for the rsdc. So the rsd is 29.6mm... Back to the subject:D

last i checked there is 2.54 centimeters in an inch so that would be 25.4 mm in an inch. so my sub has 27mm xmax which is just a hair over an inch. my calculations are coming out to be 2.12598...... peak to peak.

so i don't know where you're getting 3.5inches from.

anyway i thought the deffinition of xmax was "one way linear excursion".

Some companies can misleadingly advertise their peek to peek excursion as just Xmax.
well i know for sure my sub can move over 27mm peak to peak. i am going to assume it's 27 one way. i have played really low frequencies really loud before and have seen what would appear to be about 2" of movement. i know for a fact it's more than an inch peak to peak.
