Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and looking for opinions on new amps for my GTI. I've got a 2010 GTI with the RCD 510 (non Navi/MDI[ipod] headunit) and basic speakers (non dynaudio).
I'm currently running an Alpine SWX 1043D (3000W, 1000W RMS, 4ohm + 4 ohm) sub but using an older Rockford Fosgate Punch 325.1 (325W at 2 ohms, 175 RMS at 4 ohms). I want to get a newer class D amp that will complement the sub that I've got.
In my older mazda, I had put in an alpine HU and head much nicer sound then what came out of the stock setup. In this case I'm always listening to my music at about 90% (the last 10% doesn't raise the volume just makes the song sound worse). I want to keep the stock GTI headunit so I'm assuming I'll need a 4 channel amp to hook up to the car speakers as well.
I'm experienced in installing sub's and mono amps but this will be my time installing a 4 channel amp. I've already had to tie into the two back speakers to hook up my current amp for my sub.
After market speakers are up next but I'd like to hold off on those until I either blow the stock ones or have more spare money to spend on speakers. I'm not sure what the stock speakers are rated at or what their resistance is. So I'm not sure how large a 4 channel amp I'd need. I'm just looking to raise the volume of the music as well as the sound quality while keeping the stock speakers around. I'm willing to future proof a bit though.
Lastly my budget for the two amps are around $800-$1000 for both. It's flexible if I can justify spending or saving the extra money.
Thanks guys, I know you're the experts!
