I guess we all wanna be mods. It's a power thing. The first time PerfectlyDark (Perfect Dark Forums, pre 2000) made me a mod, I went power hungry. Everyone usually begs & stuff.

As far as begging... Yes, I could see myself being a mod here. It's not about power, or abilities, it's about being around and trying to help people out, and occasionally editing an inappropriate post. It's tough. You have to deal with people you don't want to. You have to keep your composure because a flaming mod won't last long. You have to earn respect and dignity because it's you are now a reflection of this entire community. You start to slip, and everyone else looks bad. SoundIllusions will go "ca.com, yeah, right. They have idiots like Raven as mods. I bet they tell you a cap is needed in every install, and Legacy will mic better than JL" and suddenly things go bad.

Yeah, I've lived through a forum war, can you tell?

Oh, and dispite the fact I wouldn't want to, it would be necessary to edit Gaunlet's post. Of course, a harmless link is not a problem.

Moderators right now can't really do that at all. We can't edit posts or thread titles. We can't do anything in the lounge. Hell, technically we can't even delete threads, we have to move them into the deleted threads board. And the matter of respect and dignity is a wash.

There's no ****** and you see infinitely worse on TV every single day...this is a message board, not a gestapo...if it needed to be deleted the admin would make it so....but of course we have to point out to him all the blatant **** that needs to be deleted because he never sees it and we can't do anything about it.

Realize I've been a member of another board, where even a REFERENCE to anything ****** is deleted. In fact, a thread that's gone too far off topic is deleted. Bikini women are unwelcome, and a single flame causes a thread close. An old gaming thread about OMF: Batllegrounds which basically sucked. I go there because geeks like me find some awesome flash animations.

My views might just be a little hash compared to a most. Still, keep in mind I can make out a nipple in that GIF. (thank you Opera zoom feature. =p Woo!)
