New member need help with amp/speaker advice

Hi everyone. I'm new and i need some advice please. I have a pioneer avic 7100 nex installed in my 2012 altima. The head unit is 50w × 4. I have Two 6.5" speakers in the front door and two 6"×9" speakers in the back deck. And I want to put two more 6.5" speakers in the rear doors. The speakers are pioneer TS-A1675R 3-way TS coaxial speakers (6.5"=300w/ RMS: 50w & 6"×9"=500w / RMS: 180w per pair. So that would make four 6.5" totaling 600w/ RMS:100w & two 6"×9" totaling 500w / RMS: 180w (total 1100w / RMS 280w). I also want to eventually add in a 12" subwoofer or 10". Maybe two of each. But right now I'm wondering what type of amp to use with these speakers. Like keep the four 6.5" (door) just hooked to the head unit and put a two channel amp on the 6"×9" (rear deck) or put a four channel on the door speakers and a two channel on the rear deck. And if so what amp/amps (brand/wattage/channel).

First off if you are wanting to amp the speakers get a 4 channel amp and run all the speakers off the 4 channel. If you are going to run the speakers off an amp it'd probably be best to change atleast your front speakers to components

It would be 6 speakers total. 2 in the front doors (6.5" 50 watt rms) 2 in the rear doors (6.5" 50 watt rms) and 2 in the rear deck (6"×9" 180 watt) so shouldn't I put 4 door speakers on a 4 channel amp and the 2 rear deck ones on a 2 channel amp. And I wasn't going to do component because I would have to find a separate place to mount the tweeters and I already ordered the ones I wrote in the post

You can check out BIG 5 ELECTRONICS | for industry news and to view and download catalogs from your favorite brands. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't worry about amping the speakers in the rear deck but that's just me. Heck I wouldn't even worry about speakers back there. Get a 4 channel or 2 channel amp, your choice.

What's your budget for this amp?

I'm with DaytonLax14, amp the 4 6.5" and possibly just get rid of the 6x9's. You'll probably run into imaging problems, and excess highs if you amp all 6 with no subs. You can run 2 sets in parallel on each side with a 2 channel amp assuming that you buy the right one (ie 2ohm stereo capabilities). Best to do if all speakers are the same. When wiring the first amp, save yourself some future hassles and run the wires for your sub amp too. Then when you're ready it will be a simple addition.

Why so many speakers?two 6.5's up front and a sub in the trunk is all you really need.that said if you are going to have 2 sets of 6.5's get a 4 channel amp.then another amp for whatever you decide for a sub.adding more 6x9's would be unnecessary.treat your front doors also

I have a 2012 altima. It came with 6.5 in the front door and 6x9 in the rear deck. I just wanted to add more sound. I changed out the head unit and now I'm changing out the speakers. And when I say I'm new to this>I mean I'm really new to this.

Well I already have a pioneer 2 channel 900 watt amp and my budget depends on if I want to put it in this weekend or wait. The longer I wait the more the budget. Right now 300. Ie 2 weeks 1000$

To answer your question regarding "all" the speakers you want to install I'd use the Pioneer amp you currently have for the front speakers. You will have tons of power to push them...you don't mention what the front speakers are and that info would be very helpful...if they are factory you will overpower them and probably wind up with a lot of noise rather than quality sound at anything over low volume.

Next would be to buy a 5 channel amp, and the proper wiring, etc., to power the two pair of speakers in the rear. The fifth channel is for the sub...if you are going to use as many subs as you "dream" out loud about you are going to need a dedicated sub amp.

You will fill your vehicle with "sound", whether it will be any good or not is up in the air but my opinion is at anything over low volume levels, even with the best tuning you can achieve, you are going to have a lot of loud sound...no real sound stage and as has been mentioned imaging is going to be very poor at best.

Why do you want to do this? What are you hoping to achieve? Other than lots and lots of noise?

If I was in your shoes I use the Pioneer amp to power the front speakers...I'd replace the front speakers with a pair of quality component speakers. I'd then buy a sub amp and use it to power whatever I wanted for bass...you could easily power a pair of 12's or 10's in the trunk. You'd have a great sound stage and imaging while providing all the power and sound you could probably handle while being able to tune the system so you would feel like sitting in an auditorium listening to the performers...You generally don't find bands, etc. all around the auditorium...separation, imaging and a great sound stage are more important...to me...than just filling the air space with sound.

Good luck, keep asking questions and keep us informed...pictures are great...

The speakers are pioneer ts-a1675r. The info is about half way down my original post. Thank you for your advice. I didn't read it all yet I just wanted to give you that info.

Ok I just read your whole post. I do want great sound and imaging I'm just new and have no idea what I'm doing other than reading up and watching video on it. That's why I came here for the advice. And I figured that there was a spot for the speakers and in some models of my altima they do have speakers in the rear doors. So I'm going to go with the advice and just stock with the two 6.5 in the front doors and the 6x9 in the rear deck and add a sub or two in the trunk. When I searched for the best speakers the ones I ordered were listed as #1 (The pioneer ts-a1675r). So I ordered two 6.5 and two 6x9 being delivered tomorrow

Well I got the speakers and installed just to the head unit and it's loud and sounds good just no bass. It's all highs and mids. I Def need a sub in there to make it sound great. I have a two channel amp 900w. I just need to find subs that I can run off it. Any suggestions for a decent price

Good for you on your choices and how it turned out.

I missed the name of the speakers...oops sorry.

A sub will fill that missing "fullness" of sound...not just the deep impact but a lot of the bass just below the typical 80hz cut off really completes the sound stage.

I've no good suggestions for a sub. I have a near 20 year old MB Quart that still pounds and a 12" Memphis Audio in a ported box that was in my trunk that really sounded quite good. Neither was very expensive, right around two hundred.

I'm currently looking at a 10 JL Audio sub, not in a box, that is around $180.00 and will replace the MB 10" for no really good reason other than after near 20 years of work I may get a better sound out of a new sub...in the same sealed box.

Good luck and keep us informed.
