New maelstrom 21inch beast

Anyone talking about SPL in this thread does not get the purpose behind the Maelstrom-X. It is not meant to be an SPL sub, the IA 21" subs would kill it for SPL, but on the sound quality from the Maelstrom-X would come out on top as this was the design goal for the sub, not SPL. Comparing the Maelstrom to a IA DP is like comparing the IA DP to an ID sub, 2 completely different goals. The Maelstrom is neither better nor worse than the DP and the DP is neither better nor worse than the Maelstrom, they are so different that you can't compare them.

Fo realz

Forgot to mention it in the previous post, but the Maelstrom-X is also designed for HT, it may not work very well in a car environment whereas drivers like the DP and others are specifically designed and optimized for in car performance.

Also the maelstrom will extend much lower easier. It was designed to play extremely low, and it has violent output sealed, and can take tons of power. It can also run ported though. For a car, ide say just build a box as large as you can fit in your car, and have at it:D

10 cubes ported in the car tuned around 30.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Screw 30, tune to 16-18.

In sheer spl sure.. On the lows though? accuracy? ect.

These days I find myself wanting a more accurate sub. Although I havent given up my interest in spl.
Sure. Why wouldn't it? We are talking about music here aren't we?

Just for clarification to my earlier post(s), the owner of the Exodus 18" I was referencing was actually using it in a home theater environment. If he states it is inefficient in that environment, I felt it necessary to let you SPL guys know ahead of time before you form any conclusions about it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I want that wide, extremely linear, foam surround. Very pimp. Seeing this driver in action at full throw is pure ***. Free air there is zero noise, which is very good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
