new impala ss's

I'll go as far as to say that ... it's truly pathetic.
Can you imagine a Chevelle with a Cavalier 2.2L? Somehow it clicks in my mind that it's something they'd do.

I always thought the demand was "muscle, horsepower, torque, more muscle" ... not "economical, practical, 'prissy' ". If you want a grocery getter, don't run to GM saying you want them to make a 4 door camaro with a 3.1L ... they invented the Cavalier, Malibu, and Impala for that.

Oh ... I forgot ... you know that new "2003 Chevy SS" ... "the family sedan with muscle" ... how does family sedan and muscle end up in the same sentence? 430hp small block ... ok, thats nice ... "paired with a Hydra-Matic 4-L65E, four-speed, electronically controlled, automatic transmission..." Automatic ... muscle ... am I missing something? It's rear wheel drive, so thats a plus.

i saw a concept in a magazine showing a malibu ss wit a 3.2 liter honda motor. how can gm do this???????

Yeah, see ... but it's not sissy ... I'm sure it's something along the lines of a Turbo400 or something,

Very true. It is a TH400 and it has a shift kit (it came that way and when I had it rebuilt...I said "why not, lets leave it in there"). It is a big block muscle car, so why go with a normal shift kit? I mean, the thing has SS396 plastered all over it, so it's not like I can hide anything. :p

I know what you're talking about though. Chevy better not ruin anymore classics. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif Now they're going to badge an Impala "SS" with a Honda engine. Call it something else besides SS please. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Malibu and Malibu Maxx are coming out (late?) next year. The Maxx will have the 3500 V6 turning out a standard 200hp. Know anywhere I can get more info on the concept Malibu SS?

I knew you wouldn't screw the car up by having something brutal in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah ... they are called classics for a reason ... just leave them alone.

not at the moment but if u wanna check it out, its on the august 2003 issue of sport compact car.

the b-body impalas that went from 94-96 had 260 horsepower and 330 ft.lbs. and the factory exaust was extremely restrictive, and the tourqe converter stalled at like 1600 rpm or so, but it could still do high 14's.

oh and don't associate 6 cyl with prissy, lest i bring up the gn. i also do not think you guys are giving the sc 3800 enough credit at all. a 70 dollar pulley will give that engine 2o more hp at the wheels, every time. it doesnt take too many modifications to get them over 400 ft lb.s of tourqe, and they retain every bit of their drivability.

i have a base impala, 3.4 liter v6, and it is no slouch at all. granted its not terribly fast, but it will pull your weight back plenty.

i dont think impalas have ever came without the option of having a v6, even the ss's could. its a sort of collectors novelty today. except whats mentioned above.

I'm not knocking Impala's or V6's ... just a V6 (or Honda engine) in an "SS" doesnt make any sense to me.

The 3.1/3.4/3.8 do have a fair amount of potential there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its a gm engine, their own l67. the grand prix has 20 more horse stock because of the pcm, nothing more i believe. its only in the comp g package anyways.

the impala and monte carlo ss are still gonna be a nasty pair of cars, and im interested to see how they measure up to the b-body impala ss from 1996. it may be close.

oh, and don't quote me, but i heard or read that gm and honda are kinda teaming up to produce these new dohc v6's, which i hear start around the 250 hp mark. dont quote me.

"450 horsepower" seems to come out whenever new corvettes are discussed...
