hello, i have recently just bought a bone stock untouched 99 honda accord 4 door. I have gathered up some audio equipment to install and would like some pointers or what not. not looking for the post of how crappy my stuff is. i dont do that to others. i am on a buget and i know there is lots better equipment out there. i work with what i can afford and get. i am also not trying to set a record or out do anyone. i just want a decent sounding system to make my soul smile.

ok what i have to work with.

Alpine 9805 deck.

Kicker 6.5 2 ways

Kicker 6x9 2 ways

kicker zx700.5 amplifier

vented sub box for two 10's (slot vented in center between subs, aprox 1.00-1.25 chambers per sub)

3 sets of monster cable 401XLN 3m rca cables

my power wire is 4 guage fine stran welding cable as well as my grounds.

now i would like to hear from some of you guys is this going to be soso decent.

what is the best way to hook this up. i know some but not all the tricks you serios guys do.

i have no subs as of yet so input is welcomed!

music i listen to is, rock, contry and some others. I like to feel that kick drum and bass.

That's actually not a horrid start. I say your best bet would be to build your own enclosure after you decide on drivers. Im taking it you have a prefab box?

yes i am awware of the big 3. that will be done with welding cable and souderd brass rings.

yes it is a pre fab box. i do have a kicker L5 sub. no box though.

i have a little money left to buy a sub or subs, brands? model #'s?

are the fosgate HX2 10" worth getting for what I have? friend has 2 i can get cheap. like 200 for both. not sure about newer subs.

i think they are power. they have aluminum baskets and huge motor.

If they are ditch any Kicker idea and grab those subs!

ok will they work in my slot ported box with the power i have? i am sorry for my stupidity!

Until you can upgrade the power and build a custom box for them it will work... won't be optimal but will WORK

be a while before can upgrade power, so with that in mind i wont be able to power the hx2 corectly and get the most out of them which will be a waste. Correct? mabey just run one in a custom box?

honestly, if you have the l5-12, and little money, it can put out more on the power you have with a new box, than the hx2's. aside from the nice little cool factor of having all kicker, lol. if you are going to be able to spend about 150 soon, on top of the 200 for the hx2's, then that would be a better combination. the l-series subs are not really a big punchy high frequency sub, but can be tuned down in a medium sealed to sound more so. they are mainly deep spl. sound good on music like disturbed, linkin park, etc, and hang with country just fine.... but are best suited for rap

ok. thank you so much for your help and input! i went to kicker and looked at the box sizes for the L5 12". so i need to go sealed? i was thinking that a ported box would yeild little more bass with less power and a little lower freq? are i thinking wrong? my friend mite have a old single sub box that is vented for a L5. or should a just go sealed?
