New here and looking for any tips or advice!

Ya idk I've always really liked rear fill haha although I have noticed its not as important with a subwoofer. As far as the head unit goes I have been wanting to upgrade anyway but what if I I got an equalizer? Then my one set of rcas could go to that and it would provide me with rca connections for the speakers right? I've never used an eq before but I'm pretty sure that's how that works?

man my x301 hu has 13 band eq, 5v preouts, 24bit dac, time alignment, seating position, car type speakers size stetting and like 10 other audio settings, remote usb and a microphone for bt (talking on the phone) and i'm running my speakers off it, no amp for like $119 listen to jeff..

I'm in Surprise, AZ and for the eq wouldn't I just take the one set of rca outs my deck has and plug those into the eq? Then wouldn't that be a clean signal?

still junk because you have too many things in the signal line, runs the risk for noise along with unnatural alteration of the music and weird pre-out voltage interations when you actually start using amplifiers. Plus you still dont have time alignment. EQ is best done straight at the source and if your head unit doesnt have proper audio tuning options nor a proper quality DAC/ internals then you cant expect anything decent.

Trust us when we say UPGRADE THE HEAD UNIT. Its the best thing you'll ever do for your setup.

Why is time alignment important? Notice how your left speakers are closer to you then the right. With time alignment it plays the left speaker a few milliseconds slower than the right so that both sound waves reach your ears at the same time which gives you a perfect center stage where you can literally see music. If the singer goes to the left or right, you'll hear the sound shift properly. You'll hear every instrument as if its playing right in front of you in its proper spot like a proper live concert.

Throwing away money on new 6x9s wont help with that, in fact it just draws the sound stage away from your dash and you are just surrounded by noise rather than actual music. With a properly done front speaker setup, you can be heard football fields away and have all the concert like performances possible with smooth rich and full sound.

you have to have a solid foundation for good sound, weakest link theory. But if the h/u isnt giving a good signal to the rest of your stuff, the stuff after the h/u will suffer tremendously and youll never get what you could out of it had you just upgraded your deck a smidge

EVERYONE is advising you to do the H/U for a reason... it's the best option open to you... as for the rear speakers, that's really a different issue altogether and you really ought to demo a system that is setup correctly... if you feel that the H/U lacks for some weird reason then it is not setup correctly...

agree, entirely. It might cost ya a little replacing something you already have purchased, but in the end itll be the best investment. Funny thing is that he might be entirely on board with what we are saying, but he hasnt responded in a bit so its DEAD HORSE BEATING TIME!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hey sorry guys I've had my son today and it was a busy day! I took pictures if the sub enclosure I'm just still trying to figure out the file hosting garbage. Just for sh*ts and giggles though I faded out the rear speakers driving around today and can say that although I don't think it sounded better I also don't think it sounded any worse since the sub was in a way providing enough fill on its own. I want to get a new deck although if I upgrade I would really like to get a really nice kenwood or something flip out since my car can only handle a single din. The problem is I won't have $ to buy a HU like that till I get paid next week so I think I'm going to try connecting the 4ch with the high level inputs. Thanks your all your advice guys. I will post pics soon.

For the sub. Subs play low bass drum and bass guitar right?

Now at a live show, where are those instruments? Not in the trunk.
