Alright i'll start out by saying hello to everyone here. This seems like a really good site and im glad I found it.

Alright, im in the process of buying a alpine 9835 hu, and for front componets I was planning on getting polk/momo MMC6500s, but for the rears I really dont know what I want. I was thinking just coaxials will be fine, but Im not sure what kind to get. Id like something that has decent bass, provided it will be amped, and also I dont want them to be very expensive. Also, what type amp would you suggest to power the system im planning on?

This will all be in a Honda del sol btw.

Any info/comments will be appreciated.

you plan on getting a sub? if so forget the rear speakers. you really don't need them especially in a car that small. imo i'd just look into getting a really nice set of comps for the front and amp them, leaving the rear speakers in and ran from the hu.

No, im not planning on a sub. Hard hitting bass is great, but in a car like a del sol where theres a solid wall between the trunk and the cabin, the sound quality isnt great. I prefer tight sound to heavy bass, but i'd still like a rear set of coaxials that have enough bass to fufill my needs when I do want a little extra thump.

How big are the stock rear speakers?

There are, for example, some decent 6.5" subwoofer options that might suit your needs, that you could drop in the OEM locations to provide that lower octave fill you are wanting.

The stocks front n rear are 5.25 but 6.5s fit with litte modification.

Hmm these are made in Crstal Lake, IL thats not too far from here.

Also, how would I got about wiring these? Anything different as opposed to coaxials?

Those are actually better as a mid used in a component set.

With a HU like the 9835, you have the capability of going active! DO IT!

You could pick up the Ascendant audio 6.5's along with the VifaXT25's and have a DIY component set that you could tune yourself using the Alpine 9835. It's actually what I'm temporarily running in my vehicle, 9835...Ascendant Poly's... and Vifa XT25.

Then all you'd need is a decent 4channel amplifier to power the front stage.

As for rears, you could still as suggested use a pair of 6.5" subwoofers so to speak and run them off the 9835 on the subout as well. Pick up a small 2channel or mono for the rear "subs".

I know the 9835 is great for going active, but I dont understand it all that well. I've played around with i personalize, but its still really confusing. Sorry im such a noob.

As for front componets, im pretty set on the polk/momos.

As for rear 6.5 subs I just dont know.

Not as good of a choice when your looking for "bass" out of a 6.5"

The three I listed would be Ideal, I'd personally take the TangBand.

Also, if you go active... it leaves you with A LOT more options as far as components.

The ability to have more volume, cleaner/crisper highs, and the ability to tune to your tastes. A lot more than the Polk's could ever dream of, hell the mids and tweets I'm recommending, they're similar one's that the PolkSR6500 components are based off of.

Hell, if you wanted I could even send you an iPersonalize CD with a few setting saved on them as a starting point... that you could load up if you went active with the AA Poly's and XT25's. Use those as a starting point and fine tune to your tastes.

The DIY components I listed would cost about $140, two 6.5's and two 1" tweeters.

As for the rears, personally I'd choose the TangBands... and use them as a subwoofer off the HU. Hell you can do this even if you decided to go with the PASSIVE Polk components.

Also, what do you recomend for a 4 channel amp? Ive looked around in the amp section, but I cant make a choice.

Ok, I looked those up, and as shallow as it may sound, they just dont have the physical look Id like. The fronts eont be covered up by a cover, so whats showing needs to look good. Heres an idea what the front will be like, just different speakers.
