New headunit

I have looking for a headunit for a while now. I currently have an Alpine 9827. It is an alright headunit, but is starting to not eject cd's very well, and skips on cd's randomly. I have been looking at the Jensen VM9312 and VM9412 flip screen units. I can get both off sonic electronix for a good deal, but I was wondering if the 9412 is worth $55 more? I notice that the 9312 has a 3 band equalizer and the 9412 has a 7 band equalizer, but I really don't know what that means, or if there is more tweaking capabilities in one over the other? Also, if anyone has had experience with either of these units, how did you like it, and how did it sound compared to another aftermarket unit?

Also, how do the Valor 702/703's fair to the jensens?

Lol one more edit: Is the Phase Linear UV8 a comparable headunit? For some reason I thought is was pretty much the same as the 9312, but I could be wrong.

The only reason I'm going with Jensen (maybe Valor if they are good) is because I want a screen. I know for less money I could get something like a 9886, but I would like to have the ability to watch videos/movies. Now with the Valor, is it better grade/a step up from the Jensens I'm looking at, or is it the same quality?

I actually have a friend that has Valor 702, and it is pretty cool. The only reason I was looking at the jensens more than the Valors was because I didn't want the same as his. Also, what is the difference between the Valor 702 and the 703? And have you yourself had experience with the Valors?

By the way, this kid has an extended cab chevy with a blowthrough design, 4 12W7's, 2 1000/1, and about 16 other JL speakers. The funny thing is he just recently blew 2 of the sub because they overheated with only 500 watts going to them ( he told me they had a patented cooling feature, but I guess it didn't work too well). Now I'm trying to get him convinced to get all Fi, because I've had really good luck with mine.

the jensen/phase's are very unreliable and cheaply made..not too sure about valor but i'd imagine they're the same. i'd look around and find one of pioneer's last model flip-outs used here on the forum, or another comparable brand..may be used and a little more expensive then a brand new jensen etc..but it's well worth it imo.

A local shop has the Panasonic Double DIN in dash touch screen BNIB for $399... not sure on the model number, but it would be way better than Jensen/Valor. Not on par with Alpine but I'm tryin to save ya here! Or just spend the extra hundred or two and get a used Alpine 200/205.

The only problem is I can't fit a double din in the space I have. And I know that something like an Alpine 9886/9887 would be better, but I really want a screen. And, I don't see how it could be any worse than what I have now. The only thing I can adjust is the bass and treble and the different frequencies in those areas with the 9827 I have now.

I know probably no one will like this but, how is this unit?

bump. What do you guys think about that headunit. I have also been considering the Pioneer Premier DEH-P690UB. http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9008_Pioneer+Premier+DEH-P690UB.html Is this a good headunit to get? I really like that you can use a stick and plug it in to play songs, and it comes with an IPod adapter.

grab a used in-dash off of here. you can get them for cheap some will still have the warranty and most are in great condition
