Don't mention the Blazer I just bought, it's irrelevant to this topic... details later.
$8,000-$10,000 to spend on a car, needs to be reliable, easy to work on and we'd prefer that it was new (although what new cars could you get for that?!?)

What do you recommend?

You said a while back you could borrow your moms car whenever you needed right? Sell the blazer, do not buy a car for a month, drive your moms and just go start test drivin cars you might like in your price range. After a month of test drives, researching, comparing, thinking about it....then go make an informed purchase.

Your just as indecisive and not easily satisfied (I'm the same way), and unfortunately that gets expensive. Trying to put some time inbetween purchases to do some thinking helps in the long run.

my taurus has 134,xxx miles....my dad's has 15x,xxx i've seen many hit 200k+ with no probs

It's not that I'm not happy with the Blazer, it needs a lot of work, and I just found out about some mechanical problems today.

I need a reliable daily driver, this has proved unworthy. I was offered the money I paid for it, so I will be losing... NOTHING.

the thing is, with used cars you have to check them over and take care of them and they will be reliable. it's a crazy concept but you may just want to consider it

Buy a old $800 caprice and spend $8,000 on it with upgrades..Seems to be the trend with the porch monkey population around here..
I like Altimas though.

IMO if I got another car it'd be a 20 Black Crown Vic Police Interceptor, with about 75k mi. Probably have money for exhaust and other upgrades...
