New car + New system.

So got a new car looking to install a system, got a few of the things from the old car I'm moving into the new car. Need recommendations for new stuff though.

Head Unit : Alpine CDA-9835

Speakers : undecided.

Subs: 2x 12 Fi Q's sealed or 1 15" Fi Q ported

Mids / highs Amp: JL 500/5 slash series.

Sub Amp: JL 1000/1 slash series

So looking for new speakers, and thoughts on the single 15 ported vs 2 12's sealed? speakers I'm unsure of, I had a set of polk db in the last car but they lacked in mid bass. May consider adding a set of 8's to the kick pannels and using the 5th channel of the 500/5 for that extra punch in the mid bass range.

Also I listen to a large verity of music, mostly consisting of rock. listen to some dub-step and other electrical type musics.

sounds like a nice setup...what kinda car is it going in ?
Car is a 2004 Bonneville

I'd do the 12's sealed, box little on the large size, especially if it's a trunk car.
the 2x 12's sealed vs 1 15 is about the same box, I measured to make sure I will still have access to the spare

that 1000/1 is a beast of an amp, loved the one i used to have.
yea I love that 1000/1 nothing I had before it even compared. So anyone recommendations for speakers to put in this build?

how much u looking to spend on speakers?
$300 or less for the front stage, but prob just go to best buy and get a set of type r's for the rear.

also forgot to mention my amp gives 125 rms for the font.

are you wanting to go 3 way or 2 way upfront? you can still get good midbass from a 2way. just make sure you properely seal and deaden your doors.

where do you plan to mount the tweeters and mids?

also, for your budget, you will more than likey be recommended the HAT Imagines, which get great reviews but are not for everyone (just wanted to go ahead and put that out there)

Yea, I was planning on taking my car to an installer soon to get the doors deadened, because I don't think I did a good enough job in the previous car. But get the whole car deadened before I even start installing, and I'm going to go with a 2 way system mount them in the stock locations but for tweeters prob cut a hole for them about mid way in the door panel because the stock location isn't that great.

I still have about a month before all of this goes into the car tho sadly, I figured that I would wait until my warranty is up the place gave me 3 month - 3000mile warranty

make sure they are deadened and SEALED thats where your midbass will come from. Now when you say mid way in the door panel....what kind of car are we talking about here?

I think if your doors aren't rattletraps, don't really see the need to deaden the doors. Absolutely seal the doors, Princ3cmo is correct this will help create your enclosure for your midbass. If you want, you can then lay some deadening material over your sealed holes to help do a little deadening. Just trying to help you save some money on the products you do/do not need. You might be able to have more fun in this hobby if you get your products that you really need to have!

its an 04 Pontiac bonivelle. and when i say midway I mean at the front of the door panel about half way up, not in the center of the panel. would you recommend a better spot to put the tweeters because stock are in the sail panels of the door firing directly into the dash.

really depends on what speakers you decide to use.

for example if you use the comp set have a high crossover point, you will want the tweeter as close to the mid as possible, if you choose one with a lower xover point you can try to get the tweeter maybe on your pillars or on the dash.

reason I was asking on tweeter placement plans was to be sure you werent limited to one spot only. But since it seems youre not, you have a good few options on comp sets. or you could get some raw drivers and run active with your Headunit.

Wire your tweeters up with plenty of extra wire so you are able to move them around to various locals to see what you like the best. It might look cluttered for a while, but it 's better than cutting a hole and deciding later that you don't like the tweeters there?
