so i think i have a voltage prob,

when i turn my truck on in the morning, i listen to a cd, for the first 3-4 secs the bass is really good, then after that, it drops down a good bit, but still pretty loud. it also does this if there is a pause in the bass notes like a 10 sec pause it charges up and when bass hits it sounds loud for a couple secs then drops down again. so this sounds like a major electrical prob to me what does everyone think, and also my XXX doesnt seem to move nearly as much as my SX did, at 20/40 my SX moved more than my XXX and sx was on viper1200.1, what is the problem here?

so i want to upgrade to a 200-250a alt from excessive amperage within a week or 2, but for now i think my battery is going out, because it isnt holding a good charge and has died a time or 2, its a cheap everstart from walmart, but im thinking going with an everstart maxx or optima red top, because a yellow top isnt supposed to be used as a regular battery is it? and will a battery change anything for the time being? because i know the amp isnt getting enough volts/amps or whatever, i have 1/0 wire and will do big 3 when i get a new alt , unless it would help now, any other suggestions?

Many people use Yellowtops as a regular battery.......Might as well try the big three...have you measured the voltage to see how much of a drop you are getting?

alright i went to walmart and got an everstart maxx, i dont remember the size but it reccommended 75 something for my blazer that had 690ca, but i got one bigger that fit that had 780ca, so that should help good, my old one anly had 540ca, i know the one with 875ca would not fit so i didnt even try but i can tell it helped some but i havent really messed with it any, but i will prolly get the alt still, and it only costed me 30$ for a bigger batt

sounds like the alternator. my bass is louder when i sit at a light, and the faster i drive the weaker it hits. i have a redtop in my car. soon to be buying a new 200a alt, i definately recomend the same.

If you have a DMM, it will include an ammeter that will probably measure up to 10 amps or so. To use it as an ammeter, the leads need to be placed in series with the circuit, while voltage is measured parallel with the circuit.

this thread is really confusing especially with

thats backwards :p wouldnt it be louder as the faster you drive cause the alt is being pushed more?
