One of the channels on my GT40 is taking a dump on me and I want to try and get a new 4 channel. (or 5 or 6 channel)

First instinct was the Boston GT475 (75w @ 4 ohms, and I can still run my midbass on the rear channels with 125wrms each If i bridge the amp like i have it now) $209 shipped

Secondly, I considered the Boston GTA 1105 (70w @ 4ohms stereo, then I can run the midbass on the sub channel and have a channel left to either run my 3 way front fully active or run attenuated rears, which I cannot do now) but,I'm wondering, that since I only have 3 sets of RCAs ATM, would it be ok to split RCAs or would I lose something? $210 shipped

Those are just 2 amps that popped into my head, any other suggestions to look into for 4 ,5, or 6 channel amps? around $200 or less.

How would you compare the sound of the Eclipse to that Twister you have now? Reason I ask is that I hear my Boston GT40 is pretty similar to some of the Twisters and want to see what the difference will be, if any.

Those Bostons are no where near the quality of Twister or Masconi amps. The Twister ousted the Eclipse in every way. Thats saying alot because I loved my XA5000.

From what I heard, Audiosystems and Steg belong to the same Italian parent comany, which is supposedly where the Bostons came from as well.

I remember seeing some gut shots of the Boston and the Twister F2 500 that were pretty similar. I'm pretty darn sure the Twister is the better amp, but similarities nonetheless, same buildhouse perhaps.....doesnt matter either way. Just looking for some feedback on the Eclipse. I'm sure either would do just fine, though now.

Unless Boston is made by ORCA Manufacturing then they arent. As far as I know ORCA does Focal, Blackhole, Audio-System, Masconi, and Steg. Boston doesnt exact fit in there.

One of the coolest amps I've ever owned was an old Fosgate Punch 360.6. Rated 30w a channel & had those X-Card crossovers, that thing had some balls...wish I could find another.

First thing I'd do is really verify that your amp is taking a dump and it isn't some other issue. Unless you've been cooking that channel below 2ohm, amp channels usually don't just 'go out' without some other variable added into the mix. For instance, if you've got a bad passive crossover it'll sound like an amp issue when it isn't. In addition, it could be your your HU or the interconnects between the two.

Make sure it is an amp problem first. No sense in buying a new amp when it's a bad speaker or something's touching chassis ground.

i put my punch 4040dsm on the oscope, and at 13.8 b before clipping it did 58wrms per channel into 4 ohms, and its only rated at 20rms per channel into 4 ohms at 14.4. they were built solid.

hopefully im going to pick up a 4080 soon, and see if she does over 100 before clipping.
