new amp, new car, need no sub..

Alright so in a month or so i will be getting a new car. I want to ditch my current setup ( 2 10" type e's) and get something new. I am purchasing a Directed 2400d amp from a friend for a great price. 2400w peak, 1200w rms to power this sub.

I am looking mostly at a single 12" or possibly a set of them, or just 1 15", but am not too sure of what to get. I am willing to spend up to $175 for this sub, looking for SQ really but SPL would be nice i guess..guess it doesnt really matter. Most likely will be going into a ported box.

I have looked around here on these forums alot and i have a good idea whats a good sub and whats not..but i would just like some more opinions. I really dont want to go with a type-r. JL or pioneer would be good because a local shop near me sells them. Im open to all suggestions and appreciate any input you guys have.
