x2 and as for an amp, if not buying used, if your subs are dual 4ohm you could pick up a cadence txa1000d for $199 shipped from cadence. sure others will come with more/better suggestions but that's the first amp to come to mind in that budget new.probably a good idea to get amps for ur speakers before ur sub. If your Type R's are Dual 2 ohm, then yes, the second one is better (though, gunna be a little more difficult to hook up for someone inexperienced, but not hard)... If they are dual 4 ohms, then the 1st one is better.ok cool is this one better though if not ill go with the other from the website
