im getting another car, an 03 explorer, and i just ordered an HDC3 12", and its goin in a 2.5 cubic inch box tuned to probly 32-35, im not sure on that yet either.

Anyways, im looking for a new amp that will push this thing decently, but i really don't want to spend for than 300-350.

Im willing to go used, and am open to about anything.

I was looking at hifonics 1608, but it only has 4awg power terminals and im thinking im going to need 1/0 awg?

I was also looking at kicker 750.1, but i dont think that will put out enough power, and another AQ 1200 ( i already have one in my other car) is a super strong contender because i love mine.

Anyways, thanks for the help.

Arc audio ks 1000.1 would push it, I'm gettin my 2 for $399 shipped. As you can see woofersetc.com wants $549. Pm me if your interested and I'll refer you.http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6865

****, might go with a different sub then... cause im not looking to spend the money on amps in the 2000 range lol..

back to the drawing board..

anyone got any suggestions? 12" sub that will do well in a 2.5 cube box ported off of 1000-1500 watts, mostly SPL oriented but isnt awfully unmusical? fi BL?

Before I can recommend a sub, I see that your coming from an SX ported off 1200 watts. Just letting you know that there isn't going to be a huge difference from adding 300 watts and changing subs. Unless you plan on doubling power, or getting a bigger sub. Yes, you may get louder, but it won't be as big as say, going sealed to ported.

If you really want a difference, I'd say grab another AQ1200 and strap them to a HDC. Simply switching from an SX to a BL isn't going to give you a huge change as they are very similar subs, in the aspect they aren't SQ and aren't all out SPL subs, both in between with RMS of 1000 and prefer ported.

yeah good point.

I think im about to just save my money and and buy an HDC3 and a new amp haha just might be delayed for a minute.

Probly will go with my laying around arghs and hifonics amp for now haha

thanks for the help tho

dj recommends 36-40 and he prefers 38hz himself, a lot of ppl do 38hz, i did my 12 at 38hz and my 15 at 40hz

anyways i had a 1200d on my 12, then i got a 15 and had the 1200d on it until i got a 2200d, changing amps gained me 3db, after i ran 1/0 pos and neg and adding a second batt. at first i only gained like 1.5 when i hooked the amp up with only 4awg

What is the RMS handling of the HDC12? I got a customer who was running 1 x HDC12 and 1 x SAZ-1500D and he has had to warranty his sub twice already for overheating the voice coil. Is it a 1200RMS sub or a 1500RMS sub?

He could have been doing something wrong so I am not blaming the sub, as many of my customers have said they are running the HDC subs with their SAZ amps and they like the SAZ's, just that one who says he fried the HDC12 twice with his SAZ-1500D.

Good point. We all kind of forgot.

OP: If you plan on running more than the RMS, as all of us have recommended, make sure that you watch your gains and set them correctly. Clipping the sub or not paying attention to it when you already over the RMS will result in blowing the sub.
