new amp and new batt and everything goes crazy...please help me

I hooked everything up again now that the front batt is hooked up correctly. When the amplifier is connected to the rear batt is automatically shows power, but still gives no output (when everything is hooked up). as soon as the power wire was hooked up to the rear batt it caused the hu to turn on (w/o key turned on) even though the rear batt had not been grounded yet to anything other than the amp...wtf
The amp is being powered from the front battery, they are all on one circuit. This is what I was warning you about. You have more than one source of power. The wire from the amp to the rear battery is now connected to the main battery as well. The wire that connects the batteries also connects the rear amp to the main battery, this is the same reason your rear battery was powering your car even though your main battery didn't have a solid ground. Go one step at time and make sure each step works properly before moving on to the next step.

Now that you got your front battery working, make sure your second battery is working. Then you can move on to the amp/HU issue. You must fix the power first, before you can move on to the stereo.

Remove the fuse from the line between the second battery and the amp. You do have one there right? Ignore the amp for now and figure out why you can't turn off the HU.

how can I tell if the second battery is working or not? because the voltage remained constant, it sounds as if it isnt working so could this be a ground issue? The hu only turns on when the ground is hooked up to the rear battery, so would that mean that the ground is working,,,?

I also do not understand why the amp could show power if the rear batt is not grounded and not connected to the batt in the front

It can't. Please for the love of god, DISCONNECT THE AMPLIFIER!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to sort out your power system first. This is getting really old. You need to figure out how your power is working before you can move on to the amplifier. Stop ****ing with the amp until you fix your power.

Pull the power wire out of the amplifier and put it against your tounge. Do you feel that pain? That is power that is comming from a battery. Don't tell me it's not connected to either battery or you wouldn't be in pain. Obviously I'm joking, but really, the only way the amp has power is because it's connected to one or both of the batteries. You have a wire connecting both batteries into a single circuit. So the amp can be powered by either battery.

For the last time, REMOVE THE FUSE FROM THE AMPLIFIER LINE! Now, disconnect the ground from both batteries. Now use a meter to test the power from the amp power wire at the fuse holder. It is dead right? If not go and remove every cable from the negative terminals on both batteries.

Now connect the ground at the front battery only. Test the same point again, now you should see 12 volts. Now disconnect the front battery ground, now there is no power again. Now connect the rear battery ground and you should see power.

Now you know both batteries are working. Congradulations, you have a 2 battery power system. DO NOT REPLACE THE AMP FUSE YET!!!

Now figure out what the deal is with your headunit power. DO NOT REPLACE THE AMP FUSE yet. If the amplifer comes on at any point, tear it out of the car and place it in a tub of water and shoot it several times to make sure its dead. It's clearly possesed and must be destroyed before it infects the world.

Figure out your power before you send power to your amp!!!

okay so I did most of this except for touching the wire to my tongue. unfortunately everything works so I did not get to try that. jk

both batts are charging with the alt now so the power problem is solved. I dont know how I connected it differently but now the hu does not have a mind of its own and everything is back to normal.

I suppose NOW its time to move one to the problem with the amp?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I checked, it isnt

edit: however I did notice that because I am trying to use 1/0 in a 4 gauge input stray wires may be the cause of the problem, so it seems like you are right

amps power light comes on but amp does not seem to turn on. no current from the speaker outputs. both batteries are working. its just the amp I am having trouble with now...any idea what wrong?

no clue what happened, but it started working...and it seems that part of the problem was that I had the gain on the amp all of the way down. on my old amp you could completely control the gain through the knob...

edit: and with the new batt no voltage below 13.0 at 1500 watts!!
