New alpine components

I noticed the new type r and type x component sets. Has anyone tried either of these out? Are the new type rs any better than the old ones? Is there really any changes in them?

the cone is a different material for the woofer

the tweeter is a bit better

the main difference is in the crossover, before you couldn't really tune them, for these ones you can

I haven't heard them yet but, I don't really think there will be much of a noticeable difference

I havn't heard them yet either but I would sure love to hear the Type X's. If you look at what Alpine has done for the new type R coax's they have impressive rms handling.

so the woofer material changed, the tweeters better, the crossover is different and it handles more power, but it doesn't sound any different?

from what i heard they should be much better then the old ones.

X's are the same. But wow, the new R mids look like a Vifa speaker similar to the X mids. And a ring radiator tweeter too! Alpine seems to be really stepping up the R line. I'm going to have to go listen to them this weekend if the local shop has them. Very impressive specs. Hopefully they sound impressive.

The X's are new too...they just havent updated them yet on the site IIRC.

Ah I see that now. Very interesting. Looks like the new R's are the old X's and the new X's are.... interesting indeed. Gonna have to go listen to those now, too.

Both XSounds and MillionBuy on eBay have the new R's for under $160 shipped. Might not be a bad deal if they are true performers.

I just want the F1 status...mmmmm Scan Speak Revelators.

If these new Type X speakers sound better than the previous ones...there may be no desire to spend that much on the F#1 Status.
