Has anyone heard these yet? They weigh in at 46lbs each. I got 2 of these cheep. Never heard anything about them but the price was to good to pass up. If anyone has heard these please let me know what you think. Depending on what I hear I may keep them or just resell them. Thanks for looking guys. This is whats on the SS page for the subs.....

Soundstream’s flagship sound quality subwoofer, the “R1” is probably the most revolutionary woofer you will ever see. These very unique subwoofers encompass technologies that no other American car audio companies are using. With features only found in high-end European subs and components, the R1s are extremely advanced.

Getting away from the traditional overhung motor, our underhung motor yields much less distortion and for

quality sound… The heatsink-cooled Dual Flux Plates create a very tall magnetic gap and is complimented

by a secondary magnet on top of the structure which acts as a “bucking” magnet and strengthens the gap.

While this driver is the ultimate Sound Quality subwoofer, it can still generate massive amounts of bass due to the 12.7mm of 1-way linear excursion and 46.8mm of peak-to-peak mechanical excursion!

Whether you chill to smooth Jazz, bang your head to Hard Core, or split your ears with pounding Rap music, the R1 series subwoofers will blow away even the most critical listener…

This style voice coil winding is beneficial over traditional styles as it allows for a shorter length in the height of the winding. This in conjunction with the extended top plate offer extreme X-Max. Still don't know the benefit of this set up? Well, to put it in a simple form, traditional coils need a tall winding length because typically woofers have relatively thin top plates in comparison to the top plate found in the R1 woofer. The longer a coil winding is, the longer it stays in the magnetic gap and the less distortion is produced from both the woofer and the amplifier. With that said, we took that theory to another level. We made an extended top plat that over hangs a heat sink to create a super long magnetic gap. Then by winding one coil inside the former and the second on the exterior it offered a really short wound coil length, thus increasing the physical X-Max the woofer can produce. Basically, maximum cone travel within the magnetic gap to keep the woofer super clean and will not make your amplifier produce excessive distortion due to the coil leaving the magnetic gap.

i have never seen such a big spider... lol.. they are deffinitely blingy like all soundstream stuff.. however just by looking at the specs it looks rather beefy.... 3'' flat wound coil?? lemme know what they sound like..

I know the Exacts are good. The thread was ment to get info on these woofers not to hear what woofers Soundstream has made that I should use insted of these. lol But yeah, I love the Exacts. Best 10's I have ever heard.

they got their own sound..they almost remind me of the old

Alpine Type R subs I had in my truck but louder

we had 2 of the 12" in a small common chamber and they hit

147.2db on a termlab (in a Dodge Neon)
