but whut i still dont get is that even if he did have that little cut off valve.... one, it would be after the turbo.... so it would still sound like a turbo, and there is no way in hell that a fukin hyundai even with a turbo could beat a maro with a lil under 800 gallops unless hes running it rich with nitrous all the way through up to the the 5th gear...... but still, it just doesnt add up to me

 
Thing is, they get rusty after about a year or two. The unburnt fuel makes it work like crap after a while. Lots of GTP owners and GN guys dont buy them beause of it. I know 2 shops that dont carry it because of all the problems people run into.

if he had it before the turbo then he could have run the car w/out the turbo and you wouldnt have heard it.

And if you are correct, those things spit out a whole bunch of shit. So if he had it in his engine compartment (before the turbo) then everytime he used his turbo, that would mean he would have a wonderful time cleaning when he got home. Just doesnt seem very logical, spitting all that shit directly into his engine.

 
I work for a local performance shop as a machinist and we just got done a restoration and build-up of a 1968 Camaro Z/28. Things sweet, black with white racing strips with the bright red z28 logo. We threw in a 502 big-block, and long story short, built it up to **** near 800 horse at the rear. We've takin it to the track a few times for 'Test & Tune', more like 'Drink and Race', and have run consistent low 10's. So now we thought we had something. And now were on our maiden voyage on the street.
We're lookin around for some action and come up with none. So were takin it back to the shop on a long, sad ride when out of nowhere this P.O.S., no later than a 1985 Hyundai pulls up. When I say P.O.S., I mean it. Rattling like a mother, 3 tone primer paint, rust all over the body but oddly, dark tinted windows. We're laughin and jokin but then in the silence of it all we hear this dude rev. Were thinkin oooo no. We ignore and dude keeps revving. So finally were like 'Ok, were gonna show this lil' wanna be what a real car is'. All of a sudden Dude in the Hyundai rolls down his window, and blows us a kiss...we respond with the normal WTF look in the face and get ready to race. Then we hear a clanking sound which didnt seem too unusal considering what the clank came from....

So I've got the brake mashed with the throttle going with the RPM's up to about 2000rpm when the light turns. Before my foot was completly off that brake, that mother f***in Hyundai was gone. No skirt of the tires, no burnout, no nothing. Just a roaring ***, S.O.B. that just blew our doors OFF!! We caught up to him, and as embarrased as we were we just stood there searching for words. And before we could say a word he asked "Did you hear the clank?". I said yea......he said, "that was the by-pass on the exhaust, you cant hear jacks**t until that switch is flipped. Took me forever to work it out. Cuts out right before the turbo so no blow-off valve, wastegate, or turbo whine. Just the sound of a crappy exhaust to hide the beast in front of it." We kindly responded....How would you like a job.....

Either you're way overestimating your hp, whoever drove sucks at driving and didn't give the guy all the car had, or you had really bad tires to get the hp to the ground. I doubt a daily driver hyundai is going to run lower 10's than you. Did you guys take off from the light the same or did he get a better jump (head start) off the line?
