the remote is connected to your HU though and that will not handle the current draw and supply it well. just hook up a relay.

i have onew of those wal-mart led bars under my dash. for that i tapped into the 12Volt wires to the cigarette lighter. all cars have a light in the trunk lid so you can see in the trunk. just tap into those wires.
