I'm almost done with my bus build and I'm getting ready to build up my '65 Beetle.

Bus build here:

http://www.caraudio.com/forums/car-audio-build-logs-cars-trucks-suvs/493972-65-vw-bus-pg-titanium-12s-soundstream-alpine-speakers-ground-up-restomod.html

I need some help choosing subs and box type for this build...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I would like to keep the budget for the subs and amp at around $1000 or less if possible. Looking for Good SQ but with higher SPL numbers...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

I'm getting bored of building the typical (2) 12's so I'm thinking of going with 1 of the following:

(1) 18" IA, FI or DD

(1) 21"

(1) 15"

(2) 15", 18's??

OR ?

I might even consider (4) 8's or 10s....but want some opinions.

Would like to keep it at 2 subs or less. I am going to put it in the back parcel area where the back seat would normally be. I'll be building this out of fiberglass and MDF. I haven't measured, but assuming only 4-6 CF of space available. Trying to avoid going to a wall if possible....thinking of upfiring box using curved shape of glass and roof.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Terrible customer service? do tell... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

one 18 would be nice. Pretty affordable and wouldn't take up tooo much space...

I've never run any IA or FI subs... what would a BTL sound like compared to a Warden or DP for instance? I know its hard to describe.

Is it going to sound like crap, or will it still sound good just loud as hell? Sorry for the n00b question.

I've only been running PG, SoundStream, Fosgate, JL, and MTX for the last 12 years or so. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

four 8''s.....!!! I guess we could have a battle of the 8's at the next comp Zach. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif Did your tinsels break or coils burn on your SAs?

I could even do twelve 8's and have it looking like throbbing herpes when its hittin' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I just took measurements....4' x 1.5 x 1.5 = 9cf. 4 feet between wheel wells and 1.5 feet to bottom of the back glass x 1.5 feet deep.

I also like the nasty lows that a 15 or 18+ can give, so I was even thinking of going to something like two 8's and one 18....just cause you don't see it very often. Thoughts?

Still wondering if anyone has run both IA and FI subs back to back? Never heard IA or FI in person but I don't really care for the sound of DC, not clear just loud.

Ok, I won't.

I've been watching vids of people with DD Z 18's doing some pretty good numbers (150's+). Not bad for a single sub.

Its a tough decision.... Any advantage to going to a single custom 18?
