hey guys so im about to buy two Alpine SWS 10" speakers (RMS 300watts) and im going to power them with a Rockford Fosgate T600-2. This amp is rated at 300 watts x2 @ 2ohm. So would i want to buy the 4ohm speakers or the 2ohm speakers? Which would be better? (i have a truck so i am limited to the subs i can fit and ive heard these subs before and i feel in love with them)

they dont make these subs in SVC, only DVC. Im going with 2 10" subs.. these subs are 300 RMS / 900 Peak. so with that being said, i was also thinking about going with the Rockford fosgate P1000-bd and running them at 500 watts each, being responsible with the length of use at high volume ofcourse. But what is ur opinion, Bettr n reverse? What amp would you pick for this setup? Do you know of anyother good shallow mount speakers?

How much depth do you have? And what's the budget? Sundown has a new line of subs that are pretty darn shallow.

But to asnwer your original question, with a 2 ohm stable amp, you want the dual 4 ohm coils. Wire them in parallel with one on each channel.

Another question i have.. say i get the T600-2 channel amp, can i wire one DVC 2ohm sub to one channel at 1ohm and the second DVC 2ohm sub to one channel at 1ohm, will the amp run at 2ohms? and would that be a good option? or is there a better way?

i found boxes with 6inch mounting depths that will fit in my truck. But that doesnt mean a woofer with a mounting depth of 5.5 inch would sound good or perform well.. so id say the max mounthing depth for a sub i would go with would be at 5".

If i wired the DVC 4ohm subs in parrallel to 2 ohms on seperate channels wouldnt that give me a final load of 4 ohms?

is each channel 1 ohm stable? nvm somebody beat me to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

theyre two different channels so itll stay at 2 ohms. Unless you bridge the amp, then it could either be at 1 ohm or 4 ohm.

so what would be my best option? to just run two DVC 4ohm parrallel to 2ohms on seperate channels? Bridge the amp to one channel?

If i bridged the amp could i still run 2 DVC subs on it? and if i did bridge it what kind of wattage would it be putting to each speaker? 300 still?

By the way thanks for all the help guys. I dont really know to much about sound systems and you guys are giving me great information.

Dont bridge it, youll be getting the right amount of wattage at 2 ohms per channel. You'll pretty much be seeing the same amount of wattage if you bridge it and have it 4 ohms. So just leave it at 2 ohms per channel.

one more question.. the recommended air space for these are .75 - 1.25 cub. sq ft (sealed). Is that saying this is the minium air space you need for these to sound and perform well? I can get a box with .98 cubic sq ft of air space, so these should sound and perform just fine in that box right?

You also have to subtract the displacement of the subwoofer/basket from the free space measurement of the box.

I'm too lazy to look up the spec right now, but chances are that box might be a little small unless its designed for those subs specifically.

Example: Lets say the displacement is 0.5 cf... 0.98 - 0.5 cf = 0.48cf. Too small.
