Need New Amp For Re Se 12"

ok guys, i stopped by my local stereo shop today to have them check my stereo out. over the weekend my sub kept cutting in and out for periods of time. i thought my sub was about to go. so i stopped in today and had them check it out. the sub was reading around 1.7ohms on the dmm and my amp was receiving around 12.4v on the dmm. they then checked the output of the amp and said that it wasnt giving any signal to the sub. the amp still powers on like normal, just no output.

i was hoping some of you guys could help me decide on a new amp, since some of you recommended the directed 1500d i have now. im still wanting to stick w/ a mono amp that puts out the rated watts @ 2 ohms for this sub.

well, if you want some head room for a future upgrade, you could get a more powerful amp and just run the gains low. Do you want to buy used, ebay, or from an online seller like etronics.com?

For starters, the Xenon 600.1 is a solid choice and can be had around $200... However for head room and if you want new, I would suggest a power acoustik

A1800DB or A2400DB. I was a doubter until bought one but they are cheap, warrantied, and do good power. I got my A2400DB for $265 BNIB Shipped with a one year warranty. Just a thought.

Other options:

Kicker ZX750.1 (i would choose this option if you have the money)

JBL 600.1

i bought my directed from ikesound which a lot of people here had problems w/. the amp was refurbished but i got it cheap. i had also given the thought of head room, since it was rated to do 1200wrms @ 1ohm, if i ever decided to upgrade subs. even though i was pushing the 800wrms @ 2ohms i had the gains turned down and set w/ a dmm just to make sure i wasnt going to kill the sub.

MA Audio HK1998 1200wrms @ 2ohms

JBL GTO1201.1 ll 1114wrms @ 2ohms

Hifonics BXi 1206D 900wrms @ 2ohms

Lanzar OptiDrive1400D 800wrms @ 2ohms

im open for any other suggestions. i just want an amp that does its rated power at 2ohms.
