Need Help

Originally, I was going to use 2 kicker solox 12's dual 4s, each running off of a zx2500.1 at 2ohms, each in about 5cubes. However, the kicker manuals really dont say how to tune them to about 32 Hz. I talked to a tech at Kicker and he recommended to put them in 3 cubes and run 1400watts to them at 40Hz. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I would want to give them more than 3 cubes and more power cuz i know they can take it but should I just follow his advise? If so, what amp? Still do the 2500.1 but at 4ohms? Manuals to follow:

I think 5 cubes would work great, tuned around 35hz. The smallest recommended box is 3 and the largest recommended one is 6 cf. 40 hz tuning will give up some of the low end for greater output, but is too high for daily drivers in my opinion.

 
i just talked to him again and he said that 5 cubes would be too much for the sub for a dailey driver. I have the room to give it about 5 cubes but i dont know what size port to give it to tune it. I would like to get it to about 32-35Hz but not sure how to get it there. Also, he recommended using a 1500.1 on the 4ohm DVC. Should I go with that or find a way to tune the 5cubes at 35ish Hz and still use the 2500.1?

But a bigger box will sacrifice mechanical power handling but give greater output for the same amount of power. And tuning lower will help increase mechanical power handling as well as make the output less peaky.

So.. your subwoofer can't take as much power in a larger box? but is more efficient?

 
Mechanical power handling means how much power before it will bottom out (excursion limits).

Thermal power handling is how much power will fry the voice coil.

So a larger box will tend to bottom out with less power than a smaller one. A larger volume of air is more compliant and will take less power to move the cone so it does become more efficient. With a large Xmax ( I think the SoloX is > 20 mm ), mechanical power handling becomes less of an issue and larger boxes can be used. You must still take into account thermal power handling though.
