I finally got enough money to buy a pair of fostex FE103E drivers and I'm going to build the BLH for them. I had a old denon receiver but that took a dump //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. I was wondering do i need a receiver if i just get a SS integrated and then a CD player? all i would use it for would be 2.1 stereo not HT or anything like that...

I would get the Nad C320BEE integrated after reading a few reviews. Anybody have experience with nad products? I see them go for around 250 used on Audiogon. I would probably just get a nad CD player to. I have about $500 for everything.

Does the quality of the receiver have a big impact on the sound if i use a nice integrated? i have a older pioneer. it was one of their top models back in the early 80's.

help

IA + BLH = WIN

power is power, and you can usually tell which receiver will deliver it cleanly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

NAD gear is excellent.

I have a 3020, and it's considered by many to be one of the finest SS stereo integrated amps built in that era - and as a plus if you're a viynl junkie, NAD integrateds tend to have good quality phono preamp stages, which on most receivers are nothing but afterthoughts.

do you think i should go the integrated route or go with a preamp and then a amp?

heres a pretty good deal i think

i could afford a decent CD player if i went the integrated route...

heres a amp that meets what i need

http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1140539469

and heres a preamp thats in my budget.

so i need a receiver to run 2.1 with a integrated and a CD player?

If you have the money, go seperates //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Much more flexibility.

I think you're a little confused though...a "receiver" is nothing more than an integrated amp with a broadcast tuner and maybe a phono preamp. The integrated amp doesn't have the broadcast tuner.

just a little //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

do i need a broadcast tuner? i wont be listening to radio if that is what it is.

would i be able to hookup a sub to the integrated and then to my plate amp?

no you don't.

you can hook up a sub to any amplifier using high level inputs; you just might not have a sub out jack.

i cant decied between the NAD C320BEE or a Denon DRA-395 to power these.

I can get the NAD for 359.99 and the denon for 244.99. both brand new

which one should i get?

Thats a bad link, but what I did depending on the edge, was knock it down with a round over bit, or just took some sandpaper to it to smooth it over. You shouldn't be dissapointed with them, I know I love mine.

link doesn't work? works for me

Hmmm, intersting, I get an error. But thanks for hosting it. ****, I might have to make another set for mine to see if that makes any difference in the sound. That looks interesting.
