Need help with what tools I need for box build

never thought of that. then why have a circ saw with a laser sight???? i tell u what tho i would never use a circ saw to build a box, i would only use a table saw.

I was under the impression he was just listing the tools he had, so he said he had a circ saw with laser sight. I have built boxes with a circ saw before.... if you use it with a straight edge, its no different than using a table saw, just takes much longer.

I have used **** near everything you can imagine to rip wood with. Use a table saw 90 % of the time. While using a circular saw may take a little longer sometimes . It has always seemed a little easier to cut larger pieces with the circular saw and a straight edge than using a table saw. Have you noticed the same ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't , I got an old pos craftsman that I have been using 20+ years now . It's easier for less experienced individuals to have the saw physicaly follow a guide then to try and guide the saw via the laser. If I'm using the circular saw , and the cut is over 12" or so. I'm using a guide anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In my case, I use a circular saw most of the time. The fence on my table saw only goes to 14". I have a five foot long piece of aluminum that I clamp and use.

hmmm dont think anyone mentioned a good set of clamps? especially if sometihng isnt quite as straight as it SHOULD be these are always good to have... ever try makign a box with a jigsaw =) those were the days...

Well, with my table saw setup, its really easy to cut full sheets. I have a giant outfeed table, so I havent used a circular saw in quite some time.

But I would agree, if you just have the basic table saw, then it is quite a bit easier to rip it down with a circ saw first.

I'll see if I can find pics of my table saw...

Here are a couple pics ramos...
