I recently purchased a 15 Eclipse TI, and I finally got around to testing the woofer, and when I hooked up my amp to one voice coil everything plays fine, hooked it up to the other and nothing. The car audio shops were closed on sunday, so I went to Circuit City to have them use a dmm meter on the voice coil that wasn't working. It read nothing, which to me means that there is a broken connection on the tinsel leads. If im not mistaken, if it was blown it would read a high number or worst of infinite.
The guy I purchased from stated that he tested it before shipping and it was fine. He's seems to be a stand up guy stated that he would refund my money if it was blown. Thing is I loved how it sounds and really wanna keep it. TC sounds stated that it sounds like a break in the tinsel but the problem is finding it, and it was guesstimated between $100-$150 and thats if a new top assembly is not needed or any additional parts. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for potentially finding the problem on my own, b/c it will cost me $40 each way just for them to look at it as the woofer is around 40lbs. I already checked the leads to the terminals and to the coil, and they seemed fine. I hooked the wire directly to the tinsel, and still nothing
P.S. Seller has insurance, do you think it could have been done in the shiping process (claim worthy)?
