What's up guys! Im in need of some help, my brother in law and his wife are starting a daycare and they're in need of some help.

Whats some of the best software for small business use (budgeting, security etc)?

They're wanting to tie in their security camera setup to their laptop, that way if they're ever away (letting workers run it) they can tap into the cameras to see what's going on.

A remote desktop setup would be nice too, to keep them from lugging the work laptop to and from work and home so they can get files from 1 computer to another.

They're also getting a new point of sales setup for billing and taking payments, any insight you guys would have here would also help. (Not sure of what all they could do with this, any help here would be great.)

Thanks guys!

They need to get the cameras first and have it set up through a DVR i suggest they go through a service such as ADT or something of the sort that specialize's in security but the program will most likely be SymNav for the cameras. As for the files etc that can be done easily through windows setting up a network or ftp.....

so throught symnav they can watch the cams from their laptop? They'll have a monitor setup at the actual daycare but it'd be nice to tap into them while away.

I use Quickbooks and Intuit Point of Sale at work and they are easy as pie.

As for remote access you can use the Windows built in Remote Desktop Connection or a software like UltraVNC, TightVNC, RealVNC, etc. There are a load of *VNC branded remote softwares that are free and each offers its own perks.

I like team viewer and logmein. Quickbooks is nice and adaptable to nearly every situation. Not a fan of the pricing though.

Do TV and LMI require a program running in the tray? I know with some of the VNC programs you can set it to hide the tray icon so its not visible even if you show all the tray icons.
