Need help with my set up... JL 500/1 & 10w3's

Just refoamed it... cone seems to be a bit more centered this time, but it will still rub if I push it in anywhere but the center. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Pushing up on the cone sounds/feels perfect, though, so I'm hoping it will sound alright. Waiting on the glue to dry... will put it back in tomorrow... really hoping it sounds better.

If you push on the center and it doesn't rub you should be okay. Pushing towards on side will cause it to rub as jl uses cheap flimsy poly material for the cone. Also you can pop the dust cap off easy, and if you damage it just order a new one even if it's not the same size. Try to keep around the same weight if you get a new one as a heavier one will change the tsp's a little.

Any questions feel free to message me I doubt I will check this thread again.

Nice paint job! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Put my sub back in last night... sounds like complete *****. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif I seriously have NO idea what's making it sound so bad... sounds like there's a piece of metal vibrating against the VC, but the cone doesn't rub. I took a video to try and show how awful it is but it really doesn't do justice... I mean seriously... I can't even turn my music up at all, even with my bass knob and HU settings turned all the way down.. it's THAT bad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

What could it be??

Here, I'll post the stupid video even though you can't tell what's going on at all... other than the fact that it just sounds really, really bad. I tried to find a song that sounded as bad/loud as possible. :p Also, I was driving at the time and it's the best I could do...

It sounds almost WORSE than it did before I recentered the cone. So, I'm starting to think it's something else. I did have an issue with the box vibrating up against the lining of my trunk, but I thought I fixed that... could that be what it is? Ugh... I'm so mad... I just don't see how they could sound THIS bad when the VC isn't rubbing.

I know the one I just put in was fine, unless they can break somewhere other than at the terminals (can they? Sorry I'm dumb)... I haven't looked at the other one. Would they sound that bad if that's what it is?

You all seem to have a lot of very expensive suggestions for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
there is always something better and cheaper out there. even running a solo sub on that 500/1 would do the trick. think about looking into a 12 in American Bass TNT. Around $100 for the sub and will eat that 500/1 up all day plus sound good and clean
