Hey guys I have some Alpine SWR-1042D Type R's:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4045_Alpine+SWR-1042D+-TYPE+R-.html

Basically, what amp should I get to power them FULLY!?

I mean every single watt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif (they produce 500 rms each)

I dont know much about amps and I wont be installing it...Im taking it to a local audio shop...so I really dont know how he would install it.

Should I get a 2 channel, 4 channel, mono d class or wat? What would be the best way for them to install it? @ 2 ohms, 4 ohms, bridged? Because I will be watching and I'll tell them how I want it installed, lol

Let me know.

Price is not THAT much of an issue. I won't post a price just to see what kind of responses I get. Not trying to break the bank though.

Thanx in advance

First off...subs dont produce power. There RMS is the amount of power there rated to take at all times, Peak is the amount it could take in burps for very little time.

Now that thats outa the way. You could over power ur subs a little. If price isnt much of an issure I would use a JL 1000/1 because regardless of inpediance (1ohm-4ohm) it will put out 1000 watts, and I think JL under rates( but im not sure) by like 200 watts on average.

Are they D2 subs?
i dont know what that means?

I knew they didnt produce power...lol, wrong wording I guess

****, over 600? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

ok, maybe i should put a price

no more than 400. ( I was hoping for about 250-350 though (on ebay))

First, find out whether or not your subs have dual 2ohm voice coils.

Other options would be dual 4, single 4, single 2, etc.

This information is needed to select an amplifier that will work with what you have.

they are dual 4 ohm voice coils

what does that mean though? how does it affect the amp? does that mean i have to get an amp that can handle 4 ohms?

also...does it matter if i get 4 channel, 2 channel or mono?

Obviously, I dont know THAT much...but I'm trying here

Try and find a used Sundown SAE1000D

They pop up on here and realm every now and then in the 250-350 range and with proper electrical (better battery and big 3) will easily produce 1000-1150 watts at 1 ohm. Those are Dual 4's so you could easily wire them down to 1 ohm. Otherwise find an alpine pdx 1.1000, thats another great choice, and they aren't priced too bad on woofersetc.com

You are gonna want a 1 channel (monoblock) amp in order to wire those down to a 1 ohm load.
